David BruceYOU'VE GOT MAIL
The dark side of relationship. The bright side of relationship. Relationships are always full of surprises. Love and hate are closely related.

I thought this film was one of the first to really give an accurate portrayal of the way in which the Internet has so powerfully affected the lives of people. I - and I think many other people, nowadays - know people who have had romances and even gotten married because of relationships they formed online. It's just a pity they used AOL instead of a REAL ISP, though; as someone who gets new drink coasters (i.e., AOL CD's) in the mail every few months, I thought the cartoon at the bottom of the review was a gas! -

P.S.
LLL was right. This would have made a GREAT Doris Day/Rock Hudson movie (I'm sure you've seen "Pillow Talk"!) Meg Ryan comes closer than any actress today, IMHO, to capturing the air of Doris Day in her classic late-'50's/early '60's period.

NEED MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS
May 11, 1999. We watched the movie twice and bought the sound track immediately. We need more movies like this.

IS IT OKAY FOR THE YOUTH?
May 07, 1999. I truly enjoyed the movie. Of course, I'm the type of person that loves romantic movies, AMC on cable, Doris Day is my idol, and fortunately my husband lets me pick the movie every now and then. I also agree that this movie is giving our kids the idea that living together, and everything that goes along with that, is all right. I've been wanting to see the movie again to pick up on all the other things that send improper messages to our young ones, because my young one wants to see it. Does anyone have any opinions on this? I'd like to hear them. Thanks, LLL

DELIVERS A SUBTLE MESSAGE
Feb 11 1999.
The story itself is moving, and most enjoyable. Bring your tissues! The fact is they were both living (unmarried) with someone else and the world views that as "normal" It delivers a subtle message to our kids who see it.

MY RESPONSE:
There was a major portion of the film cut out.  It was the scenes involving Hank's live-in girlfriend. The scenes just didn't blend well, so this element was dramatically minimized.  The director said it just didn't work.
