New Frontiers And Large, Rounded Ones At That
Dear HJ TV Readers,
With baby number four due in just a couple of months, I will be
taking my leave this month as Editor of the TV Channel here at
Hollywood Jesus. But I wanted to take a few moments to thank all of you
who have faithfully clicked through the links to our television reviews
or read the monthly newsletter articles over the last few years.
I have
always appreciated your feedback, and I will miss the interaction.
Of
course, the standard writing crew-Sahms, Broaddus, Furches, Yo, CoachZ
and others-will continue to fill HJ's TV Channel with insightful
reviews to keep you analyzing the "tube" each week. I will also
continue reviewing for HJ (hopefully even more now!) and will keep the
BSG blog going until the end of the series. Be sure to send your
comments anytime. I love hearing from you!
Andrew McDiarmid, who began writing faithfully for HJ in September
of last year, will be taking over as the new editor. Be sure to check
out his reviews and give him a warm welcome! Thank you again for your
continued readership, and I pray that God will bless each and every one
of you in coming months.
Sincerely,
Melinda Ledman |

Kings
Does The Bible Make Good TV?
Regardless of whether or not you believe the Bible is the key to
spiritual truth and enlightenment, the fact is it contains some of the
best drama recorded in history. It contains events that are tragic and
triumphant, and people who were complex and intriguing.
For whatever
reason, though, there have been remarkably few successes when it comes
to adapting such rich material for media, be it movies, TV, or video
games.
Kings is the latest in a long line of projects
attempting to portray the remarkable events of the Bible, but what may
set it apart from other attempts is that this one is actually pretty
good. Click through for more of Yo's review...

Stranger in a Strange Land: Grokking God
Robert A. Heinlein is known for his quality writing and clarity of thought. By the time I reached the middle of Stranger in a Strange Land,
it was clear that this was some of his best writing, and that I was not
reading one of his "juvenile" novels that I had enjoyed as a youth. |

Pondering the Open and Closed Fists
Okay, everyone. I just realized I'm a full week behind. I guess I
only thought I had been watching online on Saturday the shows that
aired on Friday. It looks like they aired the Friday before. So, I
apologize for that goof!! The rest of the world already knows what is
happening with Hera!!! |
