K:19
THE WIDOWMAKER (2001)
The 1961 accident that forms the story of “K-19: The Widowmaker”
was covered up during the Soviet era, leaving the heroism and sacrifice
of K-19’s crew unrecognized for 30 years. A real human drama about
people with enormous commitment and courage. |
KATE
AND LEOPOLD (2001)
It is amazing to me how much Søren Kierkegaard's existentialism
has become a part of recent movies. He believed that an encounter with
God demands a “leap of faith.” Both Kate & Leopold take
that leap. |
KEEPING
THE FAITH (2000)
Edward Norton's Keeping the Faith is one of the first movies for Generation
X that examines the important roles of religion and spirituality in a
person's life. It examines what happens when these strong beliefs are
put to their test through temptation. |
KICKING AND SCREAMING (2005)
Review by Chris Utley: Soccer moms and their kids are gonna love Kicking and Screaming. The kids will have clap and cheer as each goal is scored in slow motion. They’ll also laugh as the kids on the team make silly jokes and send Will Ferrell through the requisite pratfalls that are involved in family comedies. Their parents will be entertained by another hilarious Will Ferrell performance. |
KILL
BILL Vol 1 (2003)
A recently retired master assassin, The Bride is gunned down on her wedding
day by Bill her onetime boss and lover. She wakes up from a coma four
years later and resolves to wreak vengeance. |
KILL
BILL Vol 2 (2004)
From the Hitchcock inspired opening sequence, the score almost lifted
from Clint Eastwood’s spaghetti westerns, obligatory kung fu training
sequence, this is simply a masterpiece of film put together by a man who
loves films. |
KINGDOM
OF HEAVEN (2005)
A common man who finds himself thrust into
a decades-long war. A stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed
king, falls in love with an exotic and forbidden queen, and rises
to knighthood. Ultimately, he must protect the people of Jerusalem
from overwhelming forces – hile striving to keep a fragile
peace. From Ridley Scott, the master of the modern epic. |
KING KONG (2005)
Peter Jackson will employ the latest motion picture technology to cinematically portray the timeless tale of the beast and his beauty. Expanding on the chapters of the tale that take place in the mysterious and dangerous jungles of Skull Island, Jackson's Kong promises to be a unique and breathtaking creation. Overview |
KING'S
RANSOM (2005)
But unbeknownst to Malcolm, he’s not
the only one with a kidnapping plan. Not only his wife, but one
of his long-suffering employees and a dim-witted local bumpkin,
have all cooked up separate schemes of their own, each more ridiculous
than the next. |
KINSEY
(2004)
We live in a world saturated with sex. A former
US Senator and presidential candidate touts the efficacy of a pill for
erectile dysfunction. TV ads hawk contraceptives and lotions for feminine
yeast infections. Homosexuality has been mainstreamed on Will and Grace
and A Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It hasn't always been like this.
|
KISSING
JESSICA STEIN (2002)
Their story is also our story. They have the same struggles and pains
and joys as heterosexual people. Whether gay or straight, people need
love and often desperately seek out the person or persons who can in some
way complete them. Of course, often we learn that another person cannot
complete us until we complete ourselves in some ways. |
KISS
OF THE DRAGON (2001)
Action superstar Jet Li and internationally acclaimed filmmaker Luc Besson
join forces on the acquisition KISS OF THE DRAGON. This thriller revolves
around a Chinese intelligence officer who goes to Paris on assignment,
and becomes embroiled in a deadly conspiracy. |
A
KNIGHT'S TALE (2001)
William, having found grace (unmerited favor), goes on to win the Tournament
against his evil foe. And he wins without the aid of the helmet or armor.
He wins stripped of everything except grace. |
KOYLA
(1996)
Kolya is a story of the Shepherd who looks after his sheep, who tirelessly
seeks them out when they are lost or have strayed, and leads them through
dark and lonely places to bring them to dwell in his presence. |
K-PAX
(2001)
K-PAX is a rare and beautiful film. Hopefully you can tell from the rare
fact that this film is receiving, at least from this viewer, a perfect
10. This movie has just jumped into my top 100 movies and is one well
worth seeing.. |
KUNG FU HUSTLE (2005)
Review by Matthew Hill: Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Hustle is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. But at the same time, it’s like lots of things you’ve seen before. It’s very Eastern, yet it’s very Western. It’s like a traditional martial arts movie, yet it isn’t. It’s a drama, it’s a comedy. It’s touching, it’s ridiculous. Getting even more specific, this film—at various times and in various ways—has traces of Chicago, The Matrix, spaghetti westerns, Sin City, Looney Tunes, wire-fu flicks like Hero et al, Tarantino, Dragonball Z, Bruce Lee movies, old-school Hollywood, and more. |
