to come face to face with his family's demons. |

enjoyed it all the way. This movie works on many levels, but the very best
part of the film was the music – the performances by the musicians
themselves are nothing short of incredible! |

taking place at a coffee shop called Hallowed Ground. It resembles, in
some ways, what our churches can become. When a certain character and
his loved one find reason to stay away from the Hallowed Ground, those
individuals become isolated, ...all is not safe at the Crossroads..."

DAY AFTER TOMORROW (2004)
Review by Mike Furches: In one
scene, we see a reversal of roles between illegal Mexican Immigrants coming
into the United States. Instead, we see a large migration from the United
States into Mexico. In a movie that had a reminder of part of what America
stands for, the burial of the Stature of Liberty in snow, I was caused
to think of what the real opinion of Americans are when it comes to the
immigration of other people to our shores. |

DAY OF THE BEAST
After studying the Book of Revelations for most of his life, a priest
decides to begin committing every sin in The Book.

In A Day Without a Mexican, Sergio Arau tries to provide a satirical look
at what would happen if suddenly all the Mexicans were gone. A woman wakes
up with her husband and son gone. The TV station's weather man is gone.
There are no workers in the fields, the schools are in crisis because
twenty percent of K-12 teachers are Latino. |
 DEAR FRANKIE (2005)
Nine year old Frankie only knows his father through the letters they share. For as long as Frankie can remember, his father has been away on a ship traveling the world. Frankie has learned a great deal of geography and has collected many stamps that his father has sent. |

be a review of Cole Porter's life from his deathbed. Gabe (the angel Gabriel)
serves as the director of the show, guiding Cole through various scenes
from his life. The story is staged as a musical, with occasional breaks
back to the old Cole as he comments about what is happening. |

Director: Mikael Håfström. Stars: Clive Owen, Jennifer Aniston, Vincent Cassel. When two married business executives (Owen and Aniston) who are having an affair are blackmailed by a violent criminal, the couple must turn the tables on him to protect themselves and their families. Rob Schneider is seduced back to his unlikely pleasure-for-pay profession, when his former pimp T.J. Hicks is implicated in the murders of Europe's Greatest Gigolos. Deuce must go back to work in order to clear his good friend's name. |

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE (1997)
Satan continues in his attempts to give birth to the Antichrist. Arriving in NY Kevin meets the Devil himself. Kevin doesn't know this, however, until the end of the film. The Devil's name is John Milton, which is also the name of the famous poet who wrote "Paradise Lost." It is interesting that not one film reviewer I read mentioned this or made comment about the church service. These are important points.

DEVIL'S OWN (1997)
The Irish problem. The importance of reflecting Christ and renouncing
Satan. Gunmen burst into a peaceful house in Northern Ireland during a supper prayer and shoot the father right in front of his family. His 8-year-old son watches in horror. The film fast forwards to 20 years later when that same little boy, now a hardened IRA killer (Pitt), travels to America under an assumed name to buy missiles for the cause. He stays with the O'Mearas, an Irish family, that is totally unaware of his true identity.

 THE DEVIL'S REJECTS (2005)
The sequel to "House of 1000 Corpses" centers on a band of bounty hunters led by Sheriff Wydell's brother who is fueled by revenge when he finds out that his kin was slain by the Firefly family. The film will pick up shortly after the first with the Firefly clan going on the road after their house is burned down and a few family members have been gunned down during a police raid. |
 DIARY OF A BLACK WOMAN (2005)
Review by Chris Utley: I’ll be honest… I wasn’t even planning to see the film until I saw those numbers and nearly fell out of my chair. I feared that the film would be just another low budgeted, low quality African American film that would earn an “A” for effort but a “D” in execution. I was wrong… happily wrong. |

This amazing film reveals a lot about our changing cultural
ideas on origins.
Aladar is no ordinary young iguanodon. No, this young dinosaur was hatched and raised by lemurs, giving him something of a different perspective on reptile life. Unfortunately for our hero and the rest of his dinosaur brethren, trouble is brewing, in the form of a meteor shower that is rendering the earth unlivable. As the dinosaurs journey to a safer land, our hero finds himself at odds with the group's leader, Kron, when Aladar elects to help out some slow-paced misfits. |
 DIRTY (2006)
Director: Chris Fisher. Stars: Cuba Gooding Jr., Clifton Collins Jr., Keith David, Cole Hauser, Wyclef John, Wood Harris. In a city ravaged by violent crime, the police department's anti-gang task force uses any means at its disposal to get the bad guys off the streets, with cops often acting as judge, jury and executioner. As the unit's self-justifying brutality and corruption spiral further out of control, gang member-turned-cop Armando Sancho begins to question the life he and his partner Salim Adel have chosen. |

but set in a context of an immorality that is a part of our culture. Just
because we choose not to see the things that go on in the world around
us, does not mean that we don't share in the responsibility for allowing
such things to continue. |
 DIVINE
INTERVENTION (2001)
Review by Darrel Manson: My favorite scene in Divine Intervention is the
final one in which writer/director/actor Elia Suleiman sits with his mother
as they watch a pressure cooker venting steam. There could be no better
analogy for this film. Through humor, satire, absurdity and fantasy, the
Palestinian film maker looks at Palestinian life in Israel and the Occupied
Territories. |

Review by Mike Furches: I could go into a great
deal of detail about the characters and story line here but those are
things that are predictable and concepts we have seen in movies before.
The journey to get there though is actually far more enjoyable than I
would have ever anticipated. |

A remarkable film about faith. This is an incredible film that dares to explore and question the Christian faith without restraints of any kind. Martin Luther would be proud. The bottom line is: God cares about you and will stand on her head to prove it.

Reviews by Darrel Manson: It is the first film I've seen this year that
I expect will be on my top 10 list... As the story begins, Grace seems
to be the next of these Christ-figures. (Isn't Grace a great name for
one?) She is an outsider, appearing out of nowhere. When taken in by the
town, she begins doing jobs for the residents. |

When a sugar-addicted pooch (Williams) accidentally frees the villainous Zeebad (Baker) from a supernatural prison, the bad guy sets in motion events that cause the next ice age. The dog teams up with a sorcerer (McKellen), a snail (Broadbent), an opera-singing cow (Lumley), and an aloof bunny (Nighy) on a quest for three magical, life-restoring diamonds. |

of the 1978 'Heaven Can Wait'. It underscores a historic and cultural

Fighting
for equality. This is a simple story. It has a simple message. It promotes
no evil. I took two of my children to see it, ages 10 and 13. They thought
it was a so-so movie. Although, my daughter wanted to see it again with
a friend. There are some strong female role models. I suspect I will
be raked over the coals because I do not throw rocks at Dungeon and
Dragons -a supposed evil role playing game that feeds youngsters into
Satanism and witch craft. Oh well.
