It’s too much! There are just too many gaaaammmeeess!

You wouldn’t think that would be a bad thing; after all, you can never have too much of a good thing, can you? Well, here’s the problem. We still operate on a twenty-four hour day, and video games can take up a big chunk of that twenty-four hours. If you think about the fact that most games take anywhere from ten to thirty hours to complete, and that I only get a few hours at most each day to play through them, and that I can really only play one at a time…

Well, you do the math (because I’m not very good at math), but all that means is there are too many games and too little time for me or anyone else to play them. Which means we all have to make some excruciating choices leading up to the Christmas season about which games we’ll play and which ones we’ll ignore. Here at the Playbox, we’ll do our best to provide you insights and tips to help you make those choices, but know that even I, yes I, won’t be able to try every game coming out in the next several weeks.

Oh, I suppose you’re wondering what exactly is coming out in the next several weeks. Well, here’s a brief overview, and I think you’ll agree this is way too much gaming goodness to be hitting the shelves all at once. Just to name a few:

  • Fable 2 Xbox 360
  • Fallout 3 Xbox 360
  • MySims Kingdom Wii
  • Spider Man: Web of Shadows Xbox 360
  • James Bond: Quantum of Solace Xbox 360
  • Tom Clancy’s End War Xbox 360
  • Gears of War 2 Xbox 360
  • Animal Crossing: City Folk Wii
  • Star Wars: Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels Wii
  • Call of Duty: World At War Xbox 360
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party Wii
  • Shaun White Snowboarding Wii
  • Mirror’s Edge Xbox 360

And that just takes us into the second week of November, and that’s also just the games we’re going to try to review, preview or at least share some hands-on impressions of with you. Yeah, it is crazy.

We’ll kick off this crazy fall and winter coverage of the busiest season of the year for gaming with a preview of Tom Clancy’s End War and a review of the new Brothers In Arms. That will be quickly followed by Fable 2 and Fallout 3, and then we’ll just have to see what happens after that. Also, don’t forget to check out our weekly Favre Watch feature as we track and predict Brett Favre’s season with the Jets on Madden 09… and coming soon, we’ll have daily journal entries from our very own town in the world of Animal Crossings. We’ll share with you all of our adventures from digging for fossils to decorating for Christmas, and we’ll share with you tips and hints for finding the best stuff and how to make friends in the Animal Crossings world.

Whew! That’s a lot for one man to tackle. I better eats me spinach!
