Well, fellow gamers, 2010 is just about at an end, and what a year it has been. We’ve seen some huge announcements from all of the big three, some stellar titles released both as original IPs and much-anticipated sequels, and we’ve seen the economy reshape the game industry with developers and production houses closing, downsizing, or simply restructuring. As we march toward Christmas and the New Year, here a few things to keep an eye out for on the HJ Playbox.

  • Gift Buyer Guide – With Christmas right around the corner, if you have a gamer or two on your list you may be wondering what to buy them. Well, coming soon we’ll have our opinions on what are the best of the best for the three main gaming consoles. So if you’re shopping for a Wii, Xbox 360, or PS3, we’ll let you know what some of our favorite titles of the year were and which ones we think will make the best gifts under the tree.
  • New Reviews – We just posted a review of one of the biggest releases of the year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Does this sequel live up to the hype? Does it exceed the first game? Is it bigger than Halo? We answer those questions and more in our all-new review. Plus, look for our new reviews of Rabbids Go Home on the Wii and Forza Motorsport 3 for the Xbox 360. Also, we have several reviews in the works that will be up (hopefully) before the end of the year, including reviews of Assassin’s Creed 2 (just a hint; it’s pretty good), Lego Indiana Jones 2, Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage, James Cameron’s Avatar and maybe, just maybe, we’ll squeeze in a review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. (Naturally, all of this content is subject to change based on what ships from GameFly, what I get for Christmas, and how much time I actually decide to work while playing games during Christmas vacation).
  • Game of the Year – What was the best game of the year?Well, we can’t really say because we haven’t played them all, but we’ll tell what we thought was the best out of all the games we played.

Yeah, there’s a lot left to cover before 2010 gets here, so keep it locked on the HJ Playbox for all the latest, and from all of us here at Hollywood Jesus, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
