 Welcome to the Playbox
"Yo" Snyder, Games Editor
You've heard about it, you've anticipated it, you've waited patiently for months, nay years for this moment; and now its here. I'm talking of course about the launch of the Hollywood Jesus Playbox. Oh, and there's some game called Halo 3 launching today as well.
In any event, welcome to Hollywood Jesus' very own source for the latest gaming news, reviews and previews. All of us here at The Playbox are passionate about gaming, about our relationship with Christ, and how we can use even video games as a starting point to dialogue with our culture about the truths of God's kingdom. We also want to make sure that you know what's happening in the gaming industry and what games are worth your hard-earned cash and your precious time. Here's what you can expect from the Hollywood Jesus Playbox:
- Reviews: We'll tell you exactly what to expect and whether or not a game is worth your fifty or sixty bucks. Plus, we'll go one step further than most gaming sites. Not only will we review a game on its technical merits, and not only will we make sure you're aware of any issues with content, but we'll also explore with you the themes, philosophies and the deeper meanings one can find in the stories video games tell. Even video games can illustrate or be allegories of Biblical truths.
- Previews: As soon as we get our hands on a demo or early copy of a game, we'll give you our immediate impressions how the game plays, looks, feels and sounds. We'll get you the early word so you can figure out what games to put on your wish list, and which ones you might want to remove.
- News and Events: As you've probably already heard, The Playbox Crew is heading out to Seattle to cover the Cyber Gaming World Championships (the Olympics of competitive gaming). We'll cover the event live, and in the coming months we'll bring our take on the latest gaming news and get you inside to some of gaming's biggest events.
- More than one opinion: One of the best features of The Playbox is that you'll get more than one opinion. The fact of the matter is we here at the Playbox don't always agree on everything, and sometimes we just don't plain like each other (I'm kidding... kind of). What that means for you is that you'll get more than one viewpoint on everything we cover; and if we end up agreeing on something, you know its something special.
It's our hope that with your support, the support of new advertisers (anyone want to put your ad here on the site?), and with lots of hard work and prayer that this site will become the premiere site for everything you need to know about the gaming industry. Welcome aboard, and let the adventure begin.
