My Car Knows Kung Fu
Yo Snyder
The Wachowskis have created something truly unique. This is unlike
anything you've ever seen at the movies, which means it may not be for
everyone. I said earlier that this movie was going to be the surprise
hit of the year. Was I right? Read on to find out.
Son of Rambow
Making Believe
Elisabeth Leitch
Like every child who has made up stories, every one of us has stories
we desire to fulfill. Inside our minds, they may feel like nothing more
fantasy and false hope. But if we simply let them out, pretty soon we
will find that the very longings of our heart are our reality.
What Happens in Vegas
Stumbling into Perfection
Elisabeth Leitch
Not only does God know every detail of who we are, He created us to be
that way, and He saw that it was good. Not only does He tell us stories
about how much we mean to Him, He bet his own life on ours that we
might see how much He truly wants us.
Standard Operating Procedure
More Than Just Some Pictures
Darrel Manson
A photograph reveals the truth, but it may not reveal everything. A
documentary may well reveal the truth, but rarely will it reveal
everything. Does the information garnered from these prisoners justify
the means used? Are we safer because of this?
Captain Abu Raed
A Janitor with a Pilot's Hat
Darrel Manson
Transformation is often a key to making a movie a worthwhile
experience. We long to see someone's life taken from the downward
spiral it is in to find newness and meaning. Can such a transformation
begin merely by finding a hat? |

Prince Caspian The Chronicles of Narnia Continue May 16
This coming Friday, the much-anticipated sequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe comes to local theaters... And at HJ, we're more than ready.
For months now, Mark Sommer has been covering all the Narnia News that's fit to print. Be sure to check in regularly, starting today, at HJ's Narnia Features for Mark's articles about what he saw and heard at the Narnia press junket in NYC last weekend.
Yo Snyder has also written a pessimistic preview of the film that might push your buttons!
Also be sure to check out the work of novelist Regina Doman and Andrew Townsend at HJ's Narnia Features. The two have been covering the entire seven books of the Chronicles; just yesterday, they wrapped up The Last Battle...
Narnia's final Chapter segues into the Great Story
Regina Doman | 05/11/08 | Click to Comment The sadness of the heroes turns to wonder as they begin to explore
the land that they now find themselves in, which seems strangely
familiar. Jewel the Unicorn cries out, "I have come home at last! This
is my real country!" And then they truly begin to enter into joy.
But It's Not Over 'Til Hell Breaks Loose
Andrew Townsend | 05/04/08 | 2 Comments The Magician's Nephew was full of thrills and spills. In
this, the last book of the series, Lewis shows us clearly that reading
a fantasy story or a romance can give more than mere excitement; there
can be an appeal to deeper emotion, which he called the Kappa Element. |

Don't Miss This on DVD
Greg Wright
This is no big-budget studio personality drama. It's a quiet,
thoughtful examination of a very human and compassionate relationship
between a chef with a troubled past and a waitress with a troubled
present. So why is a film this simple so enjoyable?
