The Hit List: 20 Stirring Flicks for Easter Weekend
What makes you think of Jesus? What makes you think of sacrifice,
renewal and rebirth? What inspires you to go the extra mile, to kneel
before your maker, to break down in tears and then raise your fists in
triumph?
As if you don't have enough to do on Easter weekend,
contributors and readers at Hollywood Jesus have put together a list of
20 films for you to think about ladling on... |
Basically the film asks the questions, "Who am I? Where Am I going?
What is important?" Self identity and purpose of being are certainly
important matters. Despite the importance of this theme the critics have
panned the film.
However, the fans made this the best opening
day of all-time for a G-rated live-action film ever! There is a real
disconnect here with the critics. I think I'll go with the fans on
this one. Apparently the critics must think they have worked through
the important self-identity issues of life and hence overlook the
importance of this film on the lives of millions of young fans!
Here
then is the message of the film: Your self-identity is connected to
your family, historical roots, and the direction you are headed.
Simple as it may seem, that is a very good statement to be made in a
teenie-bopper film, don't you think?

Walking
in there, I said to Richard, "You know, I was raised Jewish and I skew
atheist, but I'm a little agnostic. I'm fascinated by you and your
story-because of the filmmaking and because of the way you celebrate
God." |
