Disney's been doing this new thing where they offer new releases in a special Blu-ray three pack. You get the Blu-ray copy of the movie, a DVD copy, and a digital copy. The package boldly proclaims what a great value this is, but after closer investigation, I'm no so sure. To be sure, it's nice to get a Blu-ray copy and a DVD copy, but this special "value" seems to come at the expense of leaving any room for extra features. Both the Blu-ray copy and the DVD copy of Bedtime Stories feature a paltry collection of features including some gag reels that show just how funny the director and the cast thought their movie was, some interviews with the cast where everyone talks about how great everyone else was, and some features that focus on Bugsy, the big eyed gerbil star of the film. It's all light fluff that isn't bad, but it isn't particularly informative. The real question is why the Blu-ray disc doesn't have more. Granted it has it's usual Blu-ray exclusives such as being able to do your own commentary and such, but really nothing that really outshines what's featured on the DVD disc. Maybe this is a new way to set up double-dips; put single disc Blu-rays and DVDs together for the initial release, and then offer multi-disc "special editions" of each version later. Very shrewd, very shrewd indeed.

I'm sure some Adam Sandler fans won't appreciate this tamer, "family friendly" version of Sandler, but I thought it was fun. Bedtime Stories is a simple story that has a lot of charm. It has a simple, child like innocence that, if you are willing to set aside your adult cynicism, you can't help but get caught up in. Remember what it was like to be a child where anything was possible, where there were no limits to what you could do? Wouldn't it be nice to feel that way again? Bedtime Stories suggests that you can... not only by just watching a movie that makes you feel that way, but by making sure we never outgrow our imagination. It's not a great film, but it is a fun film, so why not give Bedtime Stories a try? You may just get caught up in the magic
