SPIRITUAL POINT OF VIEW
(continued from visual review)

Soul Men celebrates friendship. Mark Twain had it right when he humorously said, “The holy passion of Friendship is of so sweet and steady and loyal and enduring a nature that it will last through a whole lifetime, if not asked to lend money.”

Friendship should last a lifetime, but isn’t it weird how things, like money, can divide it? This is why poet Samuel Johnson so wisely stated that we “should keep friendships in constant repair.” Friendships, like marriages, require work. Friendships are so worth the effort, as songwriter Thomas Moore reminds us, “To the soul, there is hardly anything more healing than friendship.”
