Upon their arrest, the court gives them a choice: do hard time or spend 150 service hours with a mentorship program. After one day with the kids, however, jail doesn't look half bad. SPIRITUAL POINT OF VIEW (continued from the visual review) REAL MATURITY HAPPENS IN TIME, RELATIONSHIP AND PLAY The story line is about two guys who refused to grow up until they were forced into taking care of a couple of boys who needed their unique brand of guidance. Way back in 100 BC Publilius Syrus said, “It takes a long time to bring excellence to maturity.” It was true then and it is still true. And yet at the same time your age is no guarantee of maturity. Our heroes in the film Role Models were young adults needing to be just that ?young adult. The film points to the idea that “growing up” happens in relationship. Additionally, it points to play an essential part of this journey to emotional maturity. It has always amazed me how comedy films can have so much truth in them. Time + Relationship + Play = Maturity. Not bad, I like it. “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” -- 1 Corinthians 13:11 Today's New International Version ![]() Copyright © 2008 Hollywood Jesus. All rights reserved.
