Recommendation: Rent/Queue it (My kids watched once, so not a buy)

The Adventures  from the Book of Virtues series includes: Adventures in Faith, Adventures in Courage, and Adventures in Honesty. These videos, which originated on PBS some years ago, are a bit dated, which is not the only reason why I only recommend a rental. They just didn't seem to make much sense or bring the "moral of the story" home so that an 8-year-old could understand. They also failed to entertain my kids long enough for them to at least hear the definition of Faith, Courage, and Honesty. I think they've learned those things far more from the Pixar line of films (i.e. Cars, Finding Nemo) because they held their attention longer.

Each Adventure starts out with a character needing to learn a lesson on Faith, Courage, or Honesty. Then that character meets up with some talking animals who walk them through the lesson in the Bible, in history, etc. Then the character gets it. Every time I put one of these videos in, my sons would start doing something else half-way through. My litmus test for a good movie for children is if mine ask to watch it over and over again. This didn't happen with this series.

I do have to admit, though, that anything older has a weird affect on me. Even watching I Love Lucy or The Andy Griffith Show or even Bonanza will give me migraine-type symptoms. A cloud comes over my brain and I have one of the worst headaches for the rest of the day. I think it comes from the fact that I watched way too much television growing up. There are at least 10 pictures of me laying on the couch watching TV from a young age to my teenage years. So take this review with a grain of salt and rent the movies. They may affect you differently... in fact, I hope they do!
