3D? Seriously! Watch Out, Falling Meatball

Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) is an unappreciated genius from Swallow Falls whose community fell on hard times when the canning industry folded and the town was left with the sardines that used to be their livelihood as the only food source. Surprisingly, the fishing livelihood is a funny thing (difficult, not hilarious) in light of the BP developments, and Cloudy may mean something different to you now than it did sixty-some days ago. For Flint, the problem requires a creative and artistic solution, and he believes that his Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator will do the trick. Unfortunately, what ensues is complete chaos, and Flint is the only one capable of providing a solution for the problem that he created.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is based on the beloved book of the same name, and was released on DVD in January. Now, it's back with a whole new set of options available to new and old viewers alike because this version is on Blu-ray with 3D compatibility. How much love would you have for a movie that you liked already but that now includes the opportunity to see those meatballs falling from the sky like they're coming right at you? What would that look like, you ask? Well, run out and grab some 3D glasses and consider this.

The extras feature 3D sneak previews of both Open Season and Monster House (two funny Sony cartoons, for sure) as well as extended scenes, a music video for "Raining Sunshine," the prerequisite "making of" featurette, and a look at the voices behind the characters of Cloudy. Fans will enjoy finding out more about what went into the planning of the movie and its adaptation, and people who haven't seen the movie before will enjoy the storyline in 2D on Blu-ray or the possibility of 3D with the new 3D Blu-ray players and 3D-capable televisions.

Either way, it's hard to dislike a story that finds a son growing closer to his father, and a hero rising up from the ashes of everyone else's expectations and criticisms. It's a wonderful story! It transcends age, as adults will love this one just as much as the kids will, especially the vocal talents of Mr. T as Earl Devereaux, the law-enforcing town cop who provides much of the humor throughout. Each character must deal with the consequences, both good and bad, of their actions, and determine what it looks like when we accept responsibility for our actions and move forward to make things right and reconcile ourselves to others.
