2008 Academy Awards | Review
There is a Country for Old Men
David Bruce, Webmaster
Best Motion Picture of the Year Comment: Amazing to me that this one walked away with the awards show. However it is reflective of our time and it captures the current morbid feelings. Unlike the ending in the film however, I believe that "all things will work together for good." Best Achievement in Directing Comment: These guys were amazingly gifted by God. Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role Comment: The clip shown during the awards was the Daniel Day character accepting Jesus as savior. Interesting. But, then we all need to be Born Again, and some of us more often than once. Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen Comment: Diablo Cody was an exotic dancer before she wrote this screenplay. Wow, speak of transformation! Miracles do happen. Best Documentary, Features Comment: War is hell, literally, and this film proves it. Best Documentary, Short Subjects Comment: I have not been able to see the short subjects this year. This one looks very interesting and opinion changing. Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score Comment: Atonement deserved more, but glad for this honor at least. Here is the story about the power of story-telling. Stories can destroy and stories can bring redemption. Stories affect us spiritually as no other thing can. Best Achievement in Cinematography Comment: Power and greed. What does it profit anyone to gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song Comment: Simple people, simple story told with the awesome spiritual drive of music. True music from the heart. Best Foreign Language Film of the Year Comment: Have not seen it. Best Achievement in Editing Comment: This series asks the basic life questions: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Comment: Have not seen it. Best Achievement in Sound Best Achievement in Sound Editing Comment: As above. Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published Comment: As above. Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role Comment: Brilliant film. There is always a day of judgment. Justice will happen. We reap what we sow. Best Short Film, Animated Comment: A wonderful story for Children, especially the ones over that are over 40! Best Short Film, Live Action Comment: Have not seen it but it looks delightful. Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role Comment: Again Best Achievement in Art Direction Comment: Revenge is like a boomerang. You really do reap what you sow. Poor Sweeney, he learned this spiritual truth only after it was too late. Best Achievement in Visual Effects Comment: The visuals were stunning, yet the film missed the mark. Loved it for the great discussion opportunity about the religious elite it furnished. Best Achievement in Makeup Comment: Have not seen it. Best Animated Feature Film of the Year Comment: Ratatouille --spiritual insight from a rat. This film speaks to the need to try. Best Achievement in Costume Design Copyright © 2008 Hollywood Jesus.
