One of the things that makes this film different and interesting from the others is that it stars a real life couple: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. So some of the magic we see on the screen between this couple is real. Nice.

"Step Up" is a 2006 dance/romance film which follows the tale of the rebel (Tatum) and the ultra-privileged ballet dancer (Dewan), who find themselves paired up in a showcase that determines both of their futures, realizing they only have one chance they finally work together.

It is a film about a privileged insider and the innovative outsider. It is about these two classes coming together. This is a theme I have always enjoyed and I celebrate. In fact in this film three very different people have come together to create it (not unlike the them in this film):

Jenna Dewan: It is noteworthy, in light of the recent war between Israel and Lebanon that she is of half Lebanese ancestry.

Anne Fletcher is not only the Director, but she is also an experienced Choreographer and Dancer. In face, she has been also well-known for her choreography in over 10 films.

Channing Tatum was born a small city in Alabama. He is the oldest of eight children and has French, Irish and Native American in his ancestry. While growing up he enjoyed a rural existence, including "All the rattlesnakes and alligators a boy could possibly chase, fishing every day.”
