In a press conference for his very first appearance in a sequel, National Treasure 2's star Nicolas Cage said that's he's also open for a sequel in another franchise featuring a very different kind of hero. Cage said of his willingness to do a Ghost Rider 2, "All they have to do is call."

Cage went on to explains the reason he's avoided sequels in the past was because of a fear of repeating himself as an actor.

As for the the new film National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Cage said he was willing to do the sequel because he felt there were new and different things that he could do with his character Benjamin Gates. A lot has changed in Cage's own life in the past three years since the first National Treasure, and he felt those changes could also be reflected in his character.

As for future adventures in the franchise, Cage said he'd like to see the series become more "International Treasure" while still maintaining its roots in American history.

Other than his willingness to reprise the role, there's no official word on a Ghost Rider sequel, and the current situation with the writer's strike makes such a sequel in the near future very unlikely.
