Man on a Ledge is a thriller starring Sam Worthington as Nick Cassidy, a fugitive who feigns a suicide attempt to provide his brother a chance to pull off a jewel heist all the while insisting he's innocent. Or something. It probably makes sense on the screen. Have you ever tried to summarize a thriller without sounding like six-year-olds making up the events of a much more exciting day than they really had?

The premise is intriguing. We've never seen a trailer like this before. This could be an edge-of-your-seat film. Then again, this could just be an OK plot. Hopefully, it'll work out, because it is different.

Without seeing the movie, it's difficult to guess what the spiritual message might be. If Nick is actually innocent then we may be looking at a story about the lengths you sometimes have to go to in the name of truth. If he's guilty, well maybe it's still kind of the same message, but from the vantage point of the people seeking a peaceful resolution (presumably Elizabeth Banks's character takes on this role). In fact, that seems to be the fundamental keystone of thrillers in general: the revelation of truth.

Man on a Ledge opens January 27th, 2012.
