As a sure sign as any that Hollywood is slowly running out of ideas, a whole slew of board game movies are coming to the big screen. (Could this be a whole new genre?)

One of the first to arrive in 2012 is Battleship... as in, "you've sunk my battleship!" Battleship.

I know: how do you turn that game into a compelling movie? More importantly, how do you get Liam Neeson to star in it?

Well, the answer to the first question should be fairly obvious; you put aliens in it. The answer to the second question... well, I'm still not sure what the answer to the second question is.

In any event, the first trailer for the game-to-film adaptation is out; what do you think?
