Alpha and Omega (2010) | Review
Weird But Good
CoachZ
Why did I think it was weird? Well, first off, the animation seemed rather lame. The wolves didn't move like... well, wolves, even when they were walking on all fours like they should. Did I mention that they danced around on two feet like people and clapped their hands and tried to dance around sexy like? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about when I say this movie is weird. I normally don't mind these sorts of things if they are done well. By well I mean it doesn't make me jump out of the movie and think, "Well, that's weird." It was bad enough in this movie that it made me think that... several times. That doesn't mean the movie was completely devoid of merit. I thought the story line between the main characters was very appropriate for today. There is an Alpha wolf (Alphas are the chosen race or the ultimate wolf), and an Omega wolf (or lower class wolf). The Omega wolf is attracted to the Alpha wolf who couldn't care less about the Omega wolf. See, she's an Alpha wolf and they only marry their own kind. She has standards! The Omega wolf and the Alpha wolf both get captured to repopulate another park, but they escape and head back home. On their journey they end up falling in love. This ends up being a problem because she is betrothed to another Alpha wolf and peace between their two clans is at stake. The thing that caught my attention was the fact that the Alpha wolves would not even consider the Omega wolves. Even the male Alpha wolf that was to marry the female Alpha wolf loved her sister, who happened to be an Omega wolf. There was an unwritten law that forbade such a thing, and I hate unwritten laws... especially ones like that. It is hard enough for men and women to find each other, much less have these unwritten laws there to complicate it further. See, in the movie they make it very clear that the two Alpha wolves that were betrothed were not compatible. In fact, she couldn't even stand him because his howl was not a howl at all, but some kind of weird sound that made birds faint out of the sky. Even though at first she was repulsed by the Omega wolf, in time we come to realize that was only because of his social stigma. The church that I go to has a lot of young single people. Most of them would love to get married, but many are looking for a person that doesn't exist. In general the men are looking for a woman who could be on the cover of Maxim magazine, but will homeschool their kids and bring them refreshments whenever they want. In general the women are looking for a man that will lead them in a Bible study, but whose skin shimmers like a vampire and is moody. Most of the time these men and women are friends with each other, but they overlook the other person. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. In the book of Genesis, God says, "It is not good for man to be alone" but alone they are because of lists that are created that are unreasonable. The unwritten rule and these unreasonable lists are blockers to men and women getting together, which God thinks is good. They both need to be torn up! Copyright © 2010 Hollywood Jesus.
