Synopsis:
Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed starring Ben Stein follows his journey around the globe where he discovers that scientists, educators and philosophers are being persecuted in a modern day witch hunt because they dare to go against the theory of evolution. These pillars of education are being fired, ridiculed and ostracized for merely challenging Darwin’s theory, proposing that life on this planet could be a part of some intelligent design and not random chance.

This thought-provoking film not only forces us to question what we have been taught but challenges us to ask -- what else is being kept from us?

Paul Lauer:  Is anybody in the film, from you to Walt or anybody else, saying that Darwinism necessarily leads to this type of abuse?

Walt Ruloff: Uh—

Ben Stein:  Well, no, wait, Walt.  Yes, I think that Darwinism is not a sufficient condition for the Holocaust; but it is a necessary condition.

Walt Ruloff:  Correct.  It gives a scientific justification, at least to those people during that time, due to—

Ben Stein:  Yes, that’s right.  Walt is totally right.  I think there’s always been severe anti-Semitism, there always has been murder of Jews; but this gave a scientific sheen and a respectability to it which it otherwise lacked.

Walt Ruloff:  Yeah, I think the key thing that we’re exposing in this film is that a lot of people, specifically in this generation, would like to look at that era as a bunch of whackos,  as people that really lost their minds.  [But] Germany and Germans were leaders in science.  They were leaders in many, many areas—but very much in the area of the sciences, and they applied all the tenets of Materialism or Naturalism to a very strict code, to kind of permeate it throughout the entire culture.   And so, it was a very rational extension to take it to a place of something called “eugenics,” which was the first step to remove the weak, or remove the people that were basically a virus within our current species, the human species.

Ben Stein:  Yeah—

Walt Ruloff:  So, it was very rational for the Germans to do this.

Ben Stein:   Hitler said that Jews, Poles, Ukrainians—those people—were basically like the human equivalent of tuberculosis and had to be wiped out.   And, by the way, there are plenty of people that agree, from other places besides Germany.

Thanks to Motive Entertainment for providing the transcript of their January 22 teleconference with Ben Stein and Walt Ruloff. The full, unabridged telecon is available from Gotham Conference in podcast form. Expelled is scheduled to release in April.
