Six months after Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland arrived in stores on DVD and Blu-ray, a special four-disc edition including the 3D version of the movie arrived. Just in time for Christmas, this edition contains all of the features available on Blu-ray but allows for the eye-popping moments that fans captured in the 3D version in theaters.

Alice's tale is one of a teenager recapturing a story from her youth and exploring the independence that she has longed for and never quite achieved. Played by Mia Wasikowska, Alice finds herself rediscovering her place in the world of Wonderland, understanding what it is that she's called to do, and realizing that what she accomplishes in one world can just as easily be realized (comparably) in another.

Johnny Depp is truly off-the-hook as The Mad Hatter, while Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen brings madness to a whole new level, and makes me think Carter must've just spent a year in the funny farm given that she's now Bellatrix Lestrange for the next year or so, too. Features on the Blu-ray include "Finding Alice," "The Futterwacken Dance," "Time-Lapse Sculpting," and a set of character-based featurettes; there are also a series of looks at "Making Wonderland" that will entrance fans of the story, Depp, or special effects in general.

The 3D version was considered to be an improvement on the work as a whole, with flying cups and dancing images enchanting and terrifying moviegoers, and now that it's available on Blu-ray, you can enjoy that at home. Children, adults, or anyone in need of a few hours of entertainment should find Alice's tale stunning, and consider what role, what calling, they are avoiding and how they can "step up" to the plate. The divine works in miraculous ways, and rabbit holes seem to be quite possibly the easiest to accept! Regardless of your inclination, who you are and what you are meant to do are two of the greatest recognitions we can make in life, and Alice is happy to get the party started.
