I
used to be a big Megadeth fan

Hey
how is it going. I am pretty good. My buddy just told me about your
site and I thought I would check it out. I grew up in a church home
my dad is a pastor and I am a Christian all though religeos pepole
like my dad dont think so but I wont get to deep into that becaus
you would be here for a week reading this. Anyway I was just writing
about the Megadeth thing I dont understand a lot of these people saying
Dave sounds like a demon what. I had to deal with that all the time
because I was the pastors kid and people should really check stuff
out before they say stuff. I used to be a big Megadeth fan but now
I like a bit heavier music and mabye some of the stuff they sing about
is not what people would consider positive or uplifting but dont listen
to it then. I like it because I am a drummer and I like fast extreme
stuff. If you want to check some other bands out I would really like
to know what you think because I have not heard one person who does
not freak when they here it but I dont think it affects my relationship
with God. I have a very different view I guess I believe in the grace
of God and it seems to me a lot of Christians dont. Not that we should
just do whatever and say well God will forgive me but everyone does
dumb stuff and I have friends now that think there is now way God
could forgive them because of what they have heard from a lot of church
people. Well I guess I should let you go if you have a chance read
the book ragamuffin gospel it is really good and I think this is a
very cool site you guys seem like you have open minds and that is
cool. By the way some of the bands I listen to are Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, and
Old Mans Child check them out if you want.
Bye for now.

of you knowing little/nothing about Megadeth, would you PLEASE post
elsewhere. Opening lines like 'I haven't really listened to this band'
speak for themselves.
SATANIC
MUSIC?

From: Kevin
this
is in response to the person claiming to be a teacher and to all
those who say to be wary of metal bands such as Megadeth:
I
am an adult male, 24 years old with no arrest record, perfect credit,
always paid my bills on time, and am also a college graduate. I
am a perfectly well-adjusted human being, and I grew up on MEGADETH.
Yes, lyrically, Dave Mustaine can be rather pessimistic at times.
And musically, he's relentless in his pursuit or speed and power.
But to suggest the devil in his music, get real. I happen to recall
the past 24 years as being rather trying times, and no matter how
much faith the church wants you to have, just look around. The toilet
bowl is far from being clean. There is no reasonable argument that
rock music breeds satanism. And besides, Satanism is a perfectly
viable religion, and I live in a country (U.S.A) that provides me
with the right to worship the devil until I'm blue in the face.
It's perfectly legal. And please stop harassing rock musicians because
the music is too heavy for you. It's ridiculous and you can't stop
human beings from getting enjoyment out of it. If you have a problem
with what I'm saying, visit me at smokintongues.com. It's not metal,
but you can make a case that were a satanic pop band if you really
want to dig for the negative. So much for spirituality and positive
thinking. Hypocrites.

THERE
ISN'T SPIRITUAL TRUTH IN EVERYTHING... IS THERE?

you
guys are really grabbing for some "spiritual truths" in the stuff
you are reviewing. if you try hard enough we can make a spiritual
truth about pornography, murder, or other sick things. but what
is beneficial about that? some of the stuff you have here is a stumbling
block to young Christians. Romans 14:21 "It is better not to eat
meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother
to fall."
keep
looking for the good in everything, but don't make up what sometimes
just isn't there and isn't intended for good. we need sold out Christians
in the entertainment business to be salt and light.
dude bro
Response:
You misapply Romans 14:21. It has to do with a personal one on one
relationship. It is a discipleship issue -and it does not apply
to response/commentary to pop culture. Besides Paul drank wine,
and so did Jesus. Also, they both ate meat. So think through what
you are saying. -David

DEMON SAYS "TEACHER"

I
wasn't looking for this site but ran across it by accident. I don't
know a lot about Megadeath. I found one of their tapes on the street
a few years ago. I'm a teacher at a Christian school and I want
to be on the cutting edge of what kids are into. I used to be into
a a lot of rock but found it really affected my joy in the Lord
so I have had to stop listening to it. Anyway I listened to the
Megadeath tape (I can't remember the title) and found it very disturbing
to me personally for this reason. I was at a church service several
years ago that was dealing with the occult and devil possession.
Suddenly a girl jumps up and runs out of the church. Several people
went after her. As I left the meeting I could hear her screaming
and it wasn't this girls voice (I knew her) it was the most gravely,
dark, growling scream I've ever heard before or since. Anyway the
connection with Megadeath is this: I heard that same scream on the
Megadeath tape. The same sounding voice that I heard coming from
that girl was just the same as on the tape. No different. What does
all this mean? Look at the covers, read the lyrics, and listen to
how the music is being played and then put it all together. I have.
I can't say that you will come up with the same conclusion. I pray
that you the reader will have discernment.
Christ's Love.
Steve
Response:
It is hard to believe you qualify to be a teacher. Your reasoning
is somehow wrong. I appreciate the fact that you are a Christian,
but that's about all I can say that is kind in terms of your email.
Please rethink what you are saying. -David
TAKE
A CHILL PILL PEOPLE!

Take
a chill pill people! stop being so intense with one another! if
you cant treat each other right then u cant convice non-christians
christianity is true. I have no problems with listening to "heavy
metal" that is lyrically sound. In my experiance "secular music"
is more sound than the socalled "praise" songs we sing on sundays!
However
im not convinced that "megadeth" is a healthy option in general
(i say this as an ex-fan) when i became a christian, their lyrical
content became undesirable and irrelevant (although their riffs
still rock!). However i have not heard "looking up the cross", and
so will check it out :)
As
a ex-fan i dont recall their music being "satanic" although there
are some bands to be wary of (ie. slayer, pantera). However Metallica,
U2, Delirious, etc. have a combination of good songs and bad ones.
Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. but dont drink the
bath water either.
And
to "seekingthelord" guy. Don't become so heavenly minded that your
of no earthly use! When we die, we are dead until the ressurection.
Then God will create "a new heavens and a NEW EARTH". better get
used to living on earth cause we don't go to heaven!!!

Hey,
I love the movie site but was suprised to see Satanic music reviewed
on the site. I don't see anything redeemable in this music, though
we can all pray for the band members and fans.

THINK A LITTLE DEEPER

I think it would be interesting to note that Dave Mustaine, the
lead singer and guitarist, is a Christian or is trying to find out
what that means. He grew up in a Christian home, but failed to see
the significance of Christianity. He struggles with it in his song
"Looking up the Cross". He has been attending church in Arizona
with his family and is pursuing God in his own way. It's funny to
me that so many people have it so wrapped up tight with all of the
answers. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil and yet, they
shun their brother and cast the first stone.
Holy
in your opinion or not, it is not what Jesus exampled. If you have
it all together, you really don't. I am a father of three and I
struggle daily with what is worth pursuing and what is chaff. I
am also an actor and I have a deep respect for the power of media.
Let's not jump into the judgment seat and deal in invective. Let's
focus more on loving others and dredging this culture for the better
together.
Peace. James Pond
GOT
A PROBLEM WITH THIS...
Subject: Megadeth_The_World_Needs_A_Hero
Date: 12 Sep 2001
From: marc
it
appears to me that for a Christian site, there's quite a bit of
non-christian music getting reveiwed...and it seems to me to be
getting loaded into the other end of the spectrum. Christ is all
about love, peace, sharing the Gospel. The world is about hate,
fear, anxiety, death, and destruction. Not saying you aren't Christians-
not at all, tho I do feel it's my responsibility as a Christian
to bring up the point that the lines are getting washed over a bit;
Sure, we can listen to anyhting out there in the world, buy Black
Sabbath cd's, bang your head off at a Megadeth show. It's ultimately
our own decision. But, careful reading of the word would go to prove
that this is'nt the way we, as Christians, are to represent who's
service we are in. I can't see how a Christian would have much credibility
showing up at a Sabbath show, and trying to tell someone Jesus can
save them, as you bang away. Credibility goes out the window, as
you have managed to show the world you are certainly at ease at
being in it (the world), and partaking heartily of it. Biblically,
we are in the world, but "seperate from it". We need to live God's
Word, and not throw it around as mere semantics. What we let in;
see, hear, and say, is relfective of what is in our hearts. I don't
mean to be a hard case here, but if we are to live as Christians,
we got compromises to make for the Lord, on His terms, and certainly
not ours. Righteousness won't happen on our own doing; takes the
Holy Spirit to do this, and if you allow yourself to partake of
the world's stuff, that exudes hate, fear, temptation, etc., the
Holy Spirit will not be there. Sin and the Holy Spirit can not be
in the same place; you are either in or you'r e going out. I ask
that you would pray for some guidance in this, choices in music,
movies, etc., and ask the Lord to direct our feet, and light our
paths. Don't be fooled by the evil one; he does everything he does
thru deception, and he is the very best at it. Be on guard; guard
your heart, and seek the guidance of Jesus. God Bless you all, get
out there and share the Word with a stranger- in a pub, in a club,
on the street. It's outside the church where the real growth happens.

Why
is this evil? I did not see any evil in it, a bit disturbing album
cover, but Dave Mustaine and Megadeth do not put lyrically substanisial
evil in this.
I'm
guessing that this previous response is from one those people who
heard that all things metal are Sataninc from a televangilist who
hid his own subliminal messages in songs to "prove" his point, like
they did with Led Zeppelin.(Stairway)

I
WASNT GOING TO POST MY COMMENT BUT SINCE YOU ASKED FOR IT HERE IT
IS. I THOUGHT I HAD GOT ON A CHRISTIAN SITE BUT I CAN SEE CLEARLY
I DID NOT .....THE BIBLE TELLS US PLAIN TO SHUN ALL APPEARANCE OF
EVIL AND ANYONE WITH TWO EYES CAN SEE THIS IS EVIL.WE ARE TO UPLIFT
THE NAME OF JESUS AND NOT TO BRING REPROACH UPON HIS NAME AND THAT'S
PLAINLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU NEED TO GIVE YOU'RE HEART TO THE
LORD AND HE WILL CLEAN YOU INSIDE AND OUT YOUR EYES TOO. I WILL
PRAY GOD WILL OPEN YOU'RE BLIND EYES UP AND GIVE YOU A REALITY OF
WHAT BEING A CHRISTIAN REALLY IS ....THE BIBLE ALSO SAYS COME OUT
FROM AMONG HER MY PEOPLE [THE WORLD ].SEE !! WE HAVE TO LIVE IN
THE WORLD BUT NOT BE PARTAKERS OF ITS SIN....PLEASE ASK GOD TO SAVE
YOUR SOUL ...
Response:
So we are not Christian! Well, well, well. Hmm, who would have guessed?
It is wonderful to be enlightened by you. -David
