FROM
HELL
One of the points made in
the film is that evil people are people just like us. Throughout
the film there are thoughts that Jack the Ripper might be a foreigner
or Jewish. Certainly someone that is not educated. However, the
film makes it clear the all people are the same. Everyone in the
film has something wrong in his or her life. "All have sinned..."

THE
INNOCENT VICTIM
The certainty of unexpected death. No matter who we are, a prince
or a pauper, death is what we hold in common. Death comes when it
comes. Jesus once said, "Everyone has an appointment with death,
and after that comes the judgment." |
 |
THE
CLOAKED VILLAIN
One of the points made in the film is that evil people are people
just like us. Throughout the film there are thoughts that Jack the
Ripper is a foreigner or Jewish. Certainly someone that is not educated.
The film strips away the idea that education eliminates evil. The
film makes it clear the all people are the same. Everyone in the film
has something wrong in his or her life. "All have sinned..." |
|
|
THE
HELPLESS VICTIM
Horror is even more terrifying when it threatens innocent victims.
All of us are victims of something in our lives. The innocent woman
in bed here is also a prostitute. She is a symbol of all of us. We
all are both victims and sinners. |

SEEKING
ANSWERS
There are two ways to look at the drug use of
Fred Abberline
1. Drug use is wrong. This is certainly true. However,
2. It is a symbol (device) to connect with the supernatural for answers.
Abberline pays attention to his inner feelings, dreams and visions
triggered by drugs. Although misguided spirituality, it is a statement
about the importance of the spiritual side of our being -which we
pay so little attention to. |
