best known for her trademark curly blond tresses.
AKA:
Diane Cannon
Diane Dannon
She
made her screen debut in 1960 as Dixie in the critically acclaimed
crime drama ?The Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond,? about a thief-among-thieves
based in New York. Soon following, Cannon starred in the television
series ?This Rebel Breed.? Although the series didn?t do well, Cannon
caught the attention of screen great Cary Grant who was 35 years
older. After a rocky courtship, the couple wed in 1962, and Cannon
took time out of her blossoming career to be a wife and a mother
to Jennifer Grant (TV?s ?Movie Stars?), born in 1966.
After
a divorce from Grant in 1968, Cannon returned to the big screen
and starred in the pop-culture classic ?Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice?
in 1969. Because of her performance as the uptight Alice, Cannon
received her first Academy Award nomination and the New York Film
Critics Award for best supporting actress.
After
mastering the art of acting, Cannon also proved her success behind
the camera. In 1976, she produced, directed, wrote and edited the
42-minute film, ?Number One,? which earned an Oscar nomination for
Best Short Films - Live Action, making her the first woman to receive
Academy Award nominations for her work in front of and behind the
camera. Rounding out the decade and receiving her third Oscar nomination,
Cannon starred in 1978?s ?Heaven Can Wait,? opposite Warren Beatty,
Julie Christie, and Charles Grodin. Where she portrayed a money-hungry,
adulterous wife who hatches a plot to kill her husband only to find
that another man has been reincarnated via her husband's body.
The
'80s and '90s found Cannon on the small screen more often than the
big one, as she starred in several made-for-TV movies and made guest
appearances in numerous series. She had a her recurring role on
?Ally McBeal? as the smart and sexy Judge Jennifer ?Whipper? Cone
(1997-98).
Cannon
tried her hand behind the camera again in 1991 by writing, directing,
and starring in ?End of Innocence,? where she received critical
acclaim for her acting performance. Cannon?s most recent film credits
include ?Drop-Dead,? ?Out to Sea? (1997, starring Walter Matthau
and Jack Lemmon), and the comedic mystery ?8 Heads in a Duffel Bag?
(1997), where Cannon starred opposite Joe Pesci as a recovering
alcoholic. Her additional film credits include ?Revenge of the Pink
Panther,? ?Deathtrap,? ?Honeysuckle Rose,? and 'That Darn Cat' (1997)
'Drop-Dead' (1998) and the upcoming television movie, ?My Mother,
the Spy.?
Currently,
Dyan Cannon stars as the vivacious and free-spirited Honey Bernstein-Flynn
on NBC?s mid-season comedy series ?Three Sisters.?
Honey is a yoga and meditation enthusiast, as well as a die-hard
Laker fan, whose open relationship with her three grown daughters
-- played by Katherine LaNasa, Vicki Lewis, and A.J. Langer -- is
unconventional and often outrageous.
Cannon
has just finished a film for Jerry Bruckheimer called "Down
and Under." It centers around two childhood friends, a New
York hairstylist and a would-be musician, who get caught up with
the mob and are forced to deliver $100,000 to Australia, but things
go haywire when the money is lost to a wild kangaroo.
Cannon
lives in Los Angeles, California. Her birthday is January 4. Her
beauty is timeless.

PRAYING FOR YOU
Subject: Dyan_Cannon
Date: Mon, 01 Apr 2002
From: Karen
Dear Dyan,
Bless you Sister! A friend told me first hand about your parties for
God. Praise God for your strength and courage for Jesus!!! Amen! I've
been praying that someone in Hollywood, would be a Christian role
model to the masses. You are part of that prayer. Perhaps you will
assist in bringing a Christian conscience to the forefront in Hollywood.
Once I wanted to
make my mark as an actor/writer like my father and some his "successful"
friends. However, successful Hollywood seemed to be missing Jesus.
There are so many talented folks in Hollywood playing it safe sending
politically correct messages.
My father, like
you, converted from Judaism to Christianity. In the last years of
his life he saw more clearly what was important through Jesus Christ.
I'm praying for
you and all that you touch through your parties. I'm praying that
more Christian role models will come out of Hollywood to influence
positively the lives of so many.
God bless you and
your ministry.
Sisters in His love,
Karen
P.S. Please see
the attachment so that I may share a glimpse my father with you.
JOHN
14:6

From: "Larry and Debbie Asher"
Hi Dyan
I hope you personally read this;
I presently had the opportunity to see the video clip of you on Larry
King live. I wanted to ask you if you understand that JOHN 14:6 is
so important. You have become a vessel to reach out to people and
with that an importance of truth that I hope you always follow. The
video clip did not show but a small portion of the show and I just
wanted to know if you share these values with us. If I understand
correctly, your biological father knew this. I'm only trying to share,
I'm not a minister.
JOHN 14:6 Jesus
answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through me.
JOHN 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in me will live, even though he dies
JOHN 9:37 Jesus said, "You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one
speaking with you.
To truly understand that JESUS CHRIST died for our sins is so important.
With the Love of
Christ
He will always walk with you.
Hope to hear from you.

Hi Dyan,
I read about your God's Party in Chatisma magazine. I was filled with
joy to know that a Hollywood actress is using her talents for God.
I wanted you to know that since minutes after reading about you. God
laid you and your ministry upon my heart and I have been praying for
you and your ministry. I want to encourge you to continue the ministry
that God has given you. My husband and I are in ministry at the church
we attend in Findlay Ohio. May God continue to bless and your ministry.

I, like you,
have found the power of God. He works in many ways. My life changed
15 years ago when HE sent me back to raise my sons. I was clinically
dead. I began writing to help people cope with the loss of their
loved ones or maybe their souls. Many people have thanked me for
helping them. One man thanked me for restoring his faith in God!
When you can,
please visit my website: www.feelingsinc.com
I believe I was sent back to not only raise my sons, but to help
comfort people who are suffering from some tragedy. Please keep
doing what you are doing. God works through us, if we listen to
Him!
God Bless You,

Hi Dyan, About
18 years ago I woke up with all this energy covering me. Years later
I read Cathy Crosby's book Let The Magic Begin. The same thing happened
to her. Now I get something else when I do breathing exercises.
I get this Wave of energy surrounding me. One time after I read
a Angel book I sat down and lifted dumb bells and I felt this fire
or flame and could see it a little. It was like The Burning Bush,
the bush didn't burn. Could you explain this for me and why is this
happening? I also have this pressure in my chest. I get something
on the outside and I need it in the inside. I know healing scriptures
too. Iam not getting the results i want. i heard you speak about
Jesus, he's all in all. Now what to i do?
Thank you Bobby

we never mislead people; we are INSTRUMENTS He uses, but it is JESUS
who does the work! I would like to know what church you attend(It's
important to be in a bible believing fellowship)! I may be coming

MY
HEART SHOUTS
Subject: Newsletter 23--Dyan Cannon
Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001
From: Carol Webster
Dear Mr. Bruce,
I just read your newsletter regarding Dyan Cannon's outreach program.
I also read the comments that had been posted. As a believer, my
heart shouts for joy that there are outspoken Christians in the
Hollywood set. There are many Christians in LA, and they are becoming
more outspoken everyday. There are also many branches of Christianity.
We (born again Christians) are many parts of the body and we are
diverse as we all have different gifts of the Spirit. I saw that
some expressed a concern regarding the lack of Dyan's biblical knowledge,
but if she is in the Word at least an hour a day (which is far more
than the average Christian), than the greatest teacher is pouring
in and throughout her. I would encourage her to spend time in study
under some of the best preachers of our day and even read some of
the great sermons of pastor of the past. I suspect that she may
already be doing that, because once you get the passion for Jesus,
then you have a passion to know more about him and be like him.
Jesus did not "hang out" with the religious leaders of his day;
he walked, talked, ate, and slept among the sinners. Dyan is sharing
Jesus in the way that God has decided to use her and she is allowing
him to do that. I do believe in healing prayers and I do believe
that people are healed, but in God's will. Her desire to perform
intercessory prayer for those who are suffering is an act of service
for our Lord. By the way, for those who don't understand the Jewish
Christian Concept or Messianic Jews, they might wish to check out
"Jews for Jesus."
Thank you for your service! Your Sister-in-Christ!

My ego tends
to judge her heavy makeup, but then I realize judgment of appearances
is one of the biggest traps of all. I'm really glad for her. Having
been raised around so many wacko, literalist Baptists (and thankfully,
some good, conscious ones, too, mixed into the stew), I'm wary of
that "born again" label, even though Diane makes a great argument
for it when she notes that it REALLY means "being born into a new
concept of yourself", as it is but our errant conceptualizations
of ourselves as just little frightened minds cut off into lonely
separate bodies that got us into confusion and "sin" and this pyscho
hall of mirrors in the first place. This is a level of "born again-ness
I can embrace, and I understand this, as my way to an understanding
and acceptance of Christ-consciousness came through attention given
to A Course in Miracles which allowed me to go back and understand
and own the truths in the Bible, the Rig Veda, Zen, The Caballah,
and on. I think so many of us in the industry do love God, but we
suffered being raised by folks who may have meant well, but had
allowed their religion to become tainted with judgment, ego, orthodoxy
and literalism (form before content). I mean, the figures in my
childhood dream of the church were teaching me that I was indeed
separate from blacks and Jews and Buddhists and gays and Catholics
and on and on and on, and I rejected that entirely as utter nonsense.
We didn't see much content OR love in these fundamentalist and exclusionary
ideas about God (that only serve to chop a mind into even more fragmented
pieces of fear), so we entertained the fantasy of running away from
this idea of "God" presented to us. As we come into maturity and
our own faith, we recognize we have never left home, only in our
minds, a brief thought of a journey already taken. God was and is
and will always be Love, Love does not Condemn, and what more could
you want?

I have always
been amused by the Jewish leaders who chastised Jesus for healing
a man on the Sabbath; completely ignoring the fact that a whithered
hand had been healed. They saw the Law and could not see the supernatural
right before their eyes. Dyan does not hold any degrees in theology
(would a tax collector or fisherman be better credentials than an
actor?) and does not conform with everyone's rules for how it is
"supposed" to be done. This also reminds me of the disciples jealousy
about other people casting out demons. It is obvious that the Holy
Spirit is doing this, not Dyan.
Dyan, if you
ever read this. God bless you, keep it up. Follow the Holy Spirit
and ignore the Pharasee criticism.

Dear Ms. Cannon,
I have always loved your work and respected your acting ability.
Of course, your hair is to die for! You are truly an inspiration
for not only aging gracefully, but beautifully as well. I am of
the Baby Boom generation, the generation that refuses to grow old
so this is especially significant. But even more significant is
my conversion to Christ twenty-two years ago. I was raised in a
fundamentalist faith, abandoned it, became agnostic and after many
years of soul searching became born again. I never publicized it
or even talked about it much except with those who asked. I had
organized religion shoved down my throat most of my life and never
wanted to do that to anyone else but rather live a loving life.
The Spirit would bring those of us with like minds and hearts together.
I saw your interview on Larry King and you seem very sincere. I
know it takes guts to put yourself out there as you have done and
you are taking a lot of criticism from so called "well meaning"
Christians. We have some things in common, first, my partner for
life is a born again Jewish man. Yes, to all those who deny it,
they do exist! Secondly, I have a Masters Degree in American Studies,
particularly popular culture, of which you are presently the reigning
queen. But most importantly, I have twenty years of spiritual research
which not only led me to Christ, but enabled me to excel in apologetics
or, defense of the faith. You see, you were drawn to Christ by His
love. I was drawn to Him by His Truth. He appeals to each of us
individually. What I have discovered in studying truth, not doctrine
like most Christians, is that God's Truth in Christ will always
meet with opposition because we have an enemy (there is a real devil)
and we need to die to self. As a consequence of this fact, Christ,
although loving, will never be popular. He wasn't when He walked
the earth and He isn't today. He Himself said, They hate me, they
will hate you, too. I know you are very popular and seek to do His
will. Counterfeit Christs and gurus abound in this age of glossy
image and media hype. I never got that impression from you. The
red flag goes up when media makes coming to Christ a Hollywood extravaganza
instead of the life changing experience it is. After all, we are
talking about eternal destiny here, not just feeling good every
day, right? I wish you strength to carry out His will and pray you
don't let the self serving wolves in sheep's clothing deceive you
with their private agendas, however well meaning they may seem.(This
includes Christians). God be with you, Dyan and never lose that
infectious laugh!
Sincerely, BK
QUESTIONING
CANNON
Subject: Dyan Cannon And Spiritual Rebirth
Date: Fri, 8 Jun 2001
From: Maydole
(My
response in blue -David)
Dear Mr. Bruce:
Although R. Chan's post of 7 May 2001 may read as harsh and mean-spirited,
I believe the essential point is correct. Ms. Cannon appears to
be focussing upon an emotional experience, rather than sound evangelism.
Note how Ms.
Cannon describes spiritual rebirth, as quoted on your Web site:
"All you have to do is say yes. Yes, Christ, I will receive this
love that you have taught me about. I'll receive it in my heart
say yes just as I am right now... ." She rightly describes God as
Love, but misses an essential component of rebirth, the recognition
that one is a sinner in need of a Saviour. (My
gosh, it's a sound bite edited by CNN, from a service when Dyan
knew the secular media was recording her. Basing your judgement
on that is not a truly fair. Give her a break, she did a good job.)
Compare Ms.
Cannon's view with that of Jesus, as recorded in the Gospel of Luke:
"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look
up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, `God, have mercy on
me, a sinner.' "I [Jesus] tell you that this man, rather than the
other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself
will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." (Luke
18:13-14) (Why are you doing this? Why do Christians
continually bash Christians? In the conversion of the Ethiopian,
and of Saul (Acts 8-9), is sin or repentance even mentioned? Where
is the call to repentance when Peter preached to the Gentiles (Acts
11:34-48). Although I believe that repentance is certainly a part
of regeneration (Acts 2:38), I point these scriptures out to you,
because if we apply the grid you place on Dyan Cannon's CNN sound
bite to certain Bible passages the same thing happens. Would you
dismiss those passages due to your grid? So again, be kind. Dyan
did a powerful thing my coming forward. Please stop throwing rocks,
it is painful. I can only imagine Dyan's sadness as she reads your
letter).
The Good News
of the Gospel is not simply that God is Love, nor only that He Loves
the world. Rather, the Good News is that we who are the natural
enemies of God might be reconciled to Him through the gift of His
Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:10-11). There is nothing wrong with
becoming emotional about the grandeur, majesty, and generosity of
God. But if in so doing we neglect to mention that the whole purpose
of Christ's Incarnation, Death, and Resurrection was to save humans
from their sins, then we have preached "a different gospel" -- a
polite way of saying that we have actually preached deceit. (Deceit?
Different Gospel? You are painful to read. May God forgive you.
How can you speak against some precious soul that you don't know?
How can you speak publicly against another when you do not have
all the facts? May the love that Dyan Cannon speaks about penetrate
your heart)
Sincerely, Leland Edward Stone
