I want so badly to like Seth Rogen. I want his movies to be funny. But since Knocked Up, Rogen has tripped through some rather unspectacular films. And then he paired up with Barbra Streisand to play a son/mother combo that every son has lived at least once in his life, and there's more here than the critics gave credit to in their reviews.

Interview With Erin Bethea
Jason C. Stanley
The film's theme of calling is something that Bethea hopes viewers will connect with. She does. She has come to understand her own calling in the medium of film: "God gives me these gifts and passions, so I go in that direction."

Now on DVD The Oscar-related films are slowing down, but you can catch Daniel Day-Lewis if you missed him in theaters. I have to confess that after seeing this film, I can't look at a five dollar bill or penny without seeing his face. He just encapsulated that character so well, that to me, for two and a half hours he actually was Abraham Lincoln.

Now on Blu-ray It's an epic story of of faith, love, and redemption, and did I mention that it's a musical? Yup, absolutely no dialogue in this movie except that which is emoted musically, and while that might turn some folks off, I think the adaptation of the original musical is incredibly well done.

Blu-ray "Combo Pack" Review
Mark Sommer
Now on Blu-ray Peter Jackson at least seems to understand that the story is about more than a change of physical location. Tolkien certainly would not have approved of Bilbo becoming the crazed warrior he is already becoming by the end of the first movie. But he would approve that Bilbo now cares about more than his own comfort.
