Runaway Slave is the 2012 documentary narrated by Rev. C.L. Bryant. This movie bravely asks the question, is the African American community still a victim of slavery after all these years?

Now, there are differences of opinion in this film. I can tell that C.L. Bryant believes that a certain type of slavery still exists, but there are different people in this film that disagree, either slightly or to a great extent. But, I like the way he approached the material.

I also loved seeing him travel to Birmingham, AL and go to the Kelly Ingram Civil Rights Memorial Park. That's where the police dogs and water hoses were used to attack people. I've been to that park more than once and it's definitely an important place to go to.

I knew that there was still racism in this world. Did I know how how bad it still is after all these years? No, and I'm glad that this documentary gave me some insight. I personally have never experienced any backlash because of the color of my skin, but I have experienced it because of my Asperger's Syndrome. Does that mean that I know how they feel or have it worse? Absolutely not! I'm just saying that unfortunately, hate is everywhere.

I am very supportive of equal rights and I pray that we'll see it for everyone one day. I just ask everyone to remember that our God and our Savior won't ever judge us by race, gender, disorder, or whatever. He just sees who we are. Let us be more like Jesus Christ and follow in His footsteps. Amen!
