Geek Charming is a Disney Channel original movie starring Matt Prokop as Josh Rosen, a film geek who has to submit a documentary for a film festival, and Sarah Hyland as Dylan Schoenfield, the popular girl in high school. Josh gets the idea that filming Dylan's life of popularity will make for an interesting documentary, and Dylan agrees knowing that a film about her will score her votes to be crowned Blossom Queen (her only immediate goal). As they are required to interact with each other so intensely, each character's identity in the school hierarchy begins to affect the other.

We both watched this film, instead of just Sarah. So this made for an interesting experience. Sarah loves teen movies like these because they remind her of a simple time. But what did Sean have to gain from watching this? Well, he may not have felt the same way as Sarah, but we ended up enjoying the film a lot!

The movie admittedly starts off a little awkwardly. If you take the hyperactive acting from the High School Musical series and remove the songs, you'll get an idea of the style. But soon enough, the movie finds its own identity and grows into a storyline that becomes surprisingly emotional. In all fairness, we've seen this type of story plenty of times before, but if the formula works and the message is positive then we can really never get tired of it. And it's nice to see Josh and Dylan adopting some of each other's strengths without swapping shortcomings.

Although the attitudes of high school girls were exaggerated for the film, they didn't stray too far from the way some of them really act. There are some teenage girls that are all about high school, fashion, and boys. Trust us, not all of them are like that; some of them are down-to-earth like the character Amy (Sasha Pieterse), who is kind of a rocker chick with pink streaks in her hair. Then again, some girls are a good mixture of both Dylan and Amy. The movie doesn't paint an unfair picture of high school girls at all.

If you're looking for an adorable film, or for one to watch as a family, then this is the one for you. We think you'd like it; we did!
