Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and the gang are back in an all new movie simply called The Muppets. And this time they have made some new friends like Mary (Amy Adams), Gary (Jason Segel), and a new puppet named Walter. Growing up with the Muppets, I was glad for a chance to see if this new movie could live up to the old ones I know and love. Does it succeed? Yes, it does—in a cozy, familiar kind of way.

All the characters we have grown to love over the years are back in The Muppets. Kermit is just as lovable, Fozzie is just as silly, and Miss Piggy is just as eccentric. In that, they haven't changed. The plot of The Muppets is familiar as well, but just as endearing: they have to raise support to save their studio. But, as we can expect, the Muppets band together and with the help of their new friends, they learn once again the value of friendship and loyalty.

What's new in this movie is the appearances of Amy Adams and Jason Segel. They both do a great job in their roles of Mary and Gary. They fit in with the Muppets nicely in a innocent, naive kind of way. Their love story is a sweet one and, by the end of this film, I was cheering on the relationship of these two lovable characters. The new puppet Walter is also a great addition to the Muppet team. His story of following his dream to become a Muppet was an inspiring one. At least according to my nine-year-old daughter who wrote, "The Muppets really inspired me to find my talent and help people with it." Who knew one little puppet could do that?

Another thing that the Muppet movies have always done well, but seems to really stand out in this movie, is the musical numbers. The songs in The Muppets were clever and humorous, and the choreographed numbers were amazing to see. The song Jason Segel sings with his brother, Walter (yeah, his brother is the puppet) is particularly extraordinary and full of many talented dancers and singers.

All in all, The Muppets is kind of like getting together with family and old friends over the holidays. It is cozy, familiar, and endearing with some laugh-out-loud moments and other moments that will pull on your heartstrings. If you're a Muppet fan, or even if you're not, you'll definitely enjoy going to see The Muppets this weekend.
