Dirty Pretty Things is an exploration of morality, but set in a context of an immorality that is a part of our culture. Just because we choose not to see the things that go on in the world around us, does not mean that we don't share in the responsibility for allowing such things to continue. There is much within our economic system that relies on such an underclass. Low wages (or illegal workers) keep the cost down for many things. We don't want to pay more, so we look the other way unless it becomes too obvious. We are part of the system that is failing those in need.

ON MORALITY

Leviticus 19:34 (NLT):
They should be treated like everyone else, and you must love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I, the Lord, am your God.

Matthew 22:37-40 (NLT):
Jesus replied, " 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."
