NOTHING
TO DO WITH GOD
Subject: Godzilla/Gojira Original_Godzilla
Date: Sun, 22 Oct 2000
From: Chris A.K.A: Xan
Gojira means Bull-Whale.
That's it. he has no mythological meaning he was just a Dinosaur awakened
by atomic tests and then the rest of the movies are just pure entertainment.
I know you remember me I am the atheist teen that said death too all humans
through Godzilla. I just think that everything that you say about Godzilla
connecting with God is stupid. I love Godzilla more than pretty much anybody
but this si the dumbest Godzilla site I have ever been too. I do come
here every once in a while too read any new comments that may have come
up but that's it. Just remember Godzilla is just a bunch of movies nothing
too do with God or christ or anything like that. The Japs made him for
entertainment and I bet if any of them see it they will laugh at you.
Post my email up if you want I don't care. I want too get some interesting
emails from people.

JUST
DO IT
Subject: Pay It Forward Comments Pay_It_Forward
Date: Sun, 22 Oct 2000
From: Liz Maryland
The premise of the
movie is a good idea....do "good things" for three people and then they
do good things for three more and so on (like that old shampoo commercial..."I
told three people about it and they told three more"...sorry! couldn't
help it!). However, all of the positive messages in the movie (perseverence,
unconditional love, doing good works) was so obscured by the many bad
things that kept happening. It was just so DARK and depressing over and
over again. I guess that I was supposed to leave the movie feeling uplifted
and encouraged that if I were to "pay it forward" it would make a difference.
Everyone kept failing so much in the film, that it seemed to present more
of a futile view of passing along good deeds. As if to say, "What's the
point? Everyone's going to lapse back into their old ways anyway..."
I would have liked
to have seen some reference to some "higher authority" or deeper, inner
reason for paying it forward. The only connection to God that I heard
was a song about angels at the end. The one nugget that I did glean from
the movie was that you may never KNOW how your actions or words may affect
other people (the characters were almost all clueless as to what they
had done) and these can be much more far-reaching than you could ever
imagine. It reinforces the idea that we should not be expecting a reward
(or "pay back") for doing good...we should "Just Do It"!

From: lester
this was a good movie
in blasting the universal church, as the Assembly is within the people
folowing Yahweh's Word. The atheist was confused, wondering why her. It
truely wasn't her time to receive the truth, as many "christains" try
to push religion on people not ready to receive, the time has to be right
or you instead of drawing people they are repeled away! I leave my website
for all to view, I admit it will startle some who are not called, however

BEST
FOOTBALL MOVIE TO DATE
Subject: Could this be the BEST football movie to date?
Remember_The_Titians
Date: Sat, 21 Oct 2000
From:
I tend to think so
after seeing this awesome inspirational film. I sat down, traditional
Twizzlers in hand, and saw Disney's name come up and thought:(unedited,
of course)"Aww, man. This movie's gonna' suck." Thank goodness I'm wrong
so often. "Remembering The Titans" is the best telling of a racial victory
story. What a great chapter of mankind to put to film. What movie in recent
memory covered both sides of this unfortunate strife our country faced
in such positive and tender terms? What was missing? What could have been
brought up? What more do you need? I was sold through and through this
film. And just maybe it made me rethink my assumptions I've tatooed on
Disney. Maybe. Just maybe.

A DIFFERENT
PERSPECTIVE
Subject: Pay_It_Forward
Date: Fri, 20 Oct 2000
From: Coles
It was nice of you
to untangle all the threads of this convoluted plot. It was also nice
of you to be able to focus on the concept of doing good deeds, but this
movie is so flawed that I wouldn't recommend sitting through it. Just
do some good deeds instead. The plot is overblown, immorality is presented
as redemptive, but what pushes this movie from the "not completely successful"
category to the "creepy" category is that the only functional human being
in the entire film is eleven years old. Maybe if you want to see this
as some kind of allegory, that's okay, but if you actually happen to know
any eleven year olds, the idea of shoving off all the responsibility of
solving homelessness, substance abuse and poverty onto their shoulders
seems....like another typical attitude of the "Me" generation. We thought
about saving the world . . . but it was too hard. We give up. Maybe our
kids will do it. I'm all for inspiring teens into action...but it's also
our job to lead the way and smooth the way, not push them in front. Gretchen

WHY
THE VIDEO FIRST?

Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000
From: DOX GAL
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?????
Why on earth have the producers decided to release a VIDEO version of
the Left Behind movie BEFORE it's released in movie theaters??? Who would
possibly want to pay $8 a person to see a movie they have already bought
for $27???? This makes no sense to me. I think it will seriously undermine
the whole idea of a Premier Extravaganza that the Christian world is hoping
to expose non-believers to. What a waste.

something like this "a child who is born of incest will become the devil

not find this. Was I looking in the correct place or was this quote made

WINNING
THE RIGHT WAY
Subject: Hollywood... Winning with Jesus is the right way. Left_Behind

From: "Ray Sheard"
Thank God !! Finally.
Hollywood is catching on. I truly believe that whenever something is about
Christ, even the likes of a high quality movie made in Hollywood, that
God will put a powerful Anointing on it, that will cause more lost & wondering
souls to come into His Kingdom, before it's too late. I'm a Minister &
like movies, & have always looked at movies from a point of view, based
on the Word of God. When one come to know Christ-God & learn how to see
the way He sees, one will begin to enjoy movies even more, because it's
very fulfilling to see life base on God's definition of what reality &
life really is. It's such a joy & peace to see beneath the surface of
things which reveal why things happen the way they do, based on God's
view. It's simple, He created life, so why waste time trying to see life
from an inferior view, man trying to understand life without the one who
created life - JESUS CHRIST-GOD. God has a way of getting His point across,
even with imperfect things, such man & even movies. There is nothing wrong
with being contemporary, just don't follow the adversary. FOLLOW CHRIST.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK (HOLLYWOOD JESUS). MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU
& YOUR FAMILY.

SUBLIMINAL
INSERTS ON TELEVISION
Subject: subliminal inserts on TV
Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000
From: jaime
David; I am bothered
by the recent "outing" of a political ad for its blatant (and brilliant)
use of a subliminal technique (RATS!!). The fact that the uproar lasted
no more than 2 days puzzles and disturbs me. In these days of multi-media
conglomerates, follow-up discussion of the implications of subliminal
manipulation in the democratic process (for the Presidency, no less )
seemed to me to be artificially muted. Why? Could it be that subliminal
messages are so pervasive, that there is a general loathing to open Pandora's
Box? In your years with NBC, did you wittness, or did you know about any
use of subliminal inserts (even of the "get it!" or Buy it!" type, where
the advertiser is clearly indicated)? Do you know of such practice anywhere
else? I would like to arm my Congressman with all the facts that I can;
I am deeply worried about any threats to our political process. Take it
easy, but take it!! (Woody Guthrie)

From: Mary Ann
I've read through
some of the comments, and truly don't have much to add. I just rented
this film, my 10 year old son saw it in school and said it was a great
show. Well, if my 10 year old said it was good, I had to see it, since
I missed it this summer. There was a film out several years ago, called,
Jesus, I believe, and I thought it was good. But this one--this was truly
spiritually uplifting. This film fed me spiritually and still has a strong
impact on me. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I could
go on and on, but all I can say, is that I believe it was spiritually
inspired and therefore it was spiritually uplifting.!!

hi, I loved the book
and am about to start Indwellings. But first and formost...read and study
your bibles. That is what is most important. Sure LB is great reading
and biblical reasonable accurate, but its a story, after all. Prophecy
is just not taught or studied enough. And in these days more than ever
it needs to be. God says what he means and means what he says...read it
the way it was meant to be read. Literally...God does not need our interpretation.
Everything he alread knew from the begining of time: and he has made it
known to us too...if only we would take his word for it.

I am sorry to bring
this in to the discussion, but the winter solstice was not between Dec
21-25 in the time of Christ. Precession of the equinoxes sees to that.
The precession causes the seasons to move forward and the speed of movement
is 72 days per degree. It is therefore safe to say that there is a difference
of at least 20 days between then and now. Crichton E M Miller This e-mail

GREAT
TOYS GONE TO WASTE ON BAD STORY TELLERS
Subject: Mission to Mars
Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2000
From: Ron
Leaves me wondering
what the heck happened! The equipment, the sets, the spacecraft, everything
were right on. Real believable, in fact I felt as though NASA and companies
like Boeing (Douglas), Lockheed and Raytheon helped or contributed to
the images and accuracy. All of it was, I¹m sure a truer look into our
near future in space than anything I¹ve seen for a while. Oh but the script,
and the scenes were a complete failure. I had plenty of time to think
during the boring, contrived dialog and desperate attempts by the actors
to stretch things out and make things work, I thought "OH no", they have
spent all the budget on Techno, and totally botched the story. It¹s a
great story! One that should be told, but it was a failure on the management
of the film. Bad Job BOYZS you failed! No amount of heads up, I don¹t
know what I¹m talking about or you don¹t count will change that. It smacks
of egotistic, bumbling at the upper levels to me; you can just smell it.
If you received much monitory support from NASA, or Dr Pepper or the aircraft
companies, it was a shell game you pulled off, and I hope they wise up
and take you to court. In fact that¹s a good story, like Robert DeNiro
in Wag the DogS Only it¹s Pastawits in "A Swag in Space"S. A story about
a wayward Rabbi convinces NASA and the Defense establishment to promote
their failing image through a bogus film. Go for it, it¹s yours. Please
do it over! PleaseS. You idiots, and this time leave it alone, keep your
hands out of it. A good example of how to pull this story off was "Contact".
Good Techno, good story line and script, good follow through and some
solid but not super big actors. I bet the budget was near the same but
they did so well. Ending with the same theme, hope and a positive look
out to the stars and our future. OH well, sorry, too bad good toys gone
to waste on rotten storytellers. And what¹s this line you dreamed up,
"what we were born for", real real badS RON

From: Dave
I am pretty well disgruntled
with the way that the world espouses things and ideas today. We have few,
if any, programs on television, that try to depict the truth. for a world
that conciders itself so rich in technological ideas, we are so poor.
GOD, the creator of the Heaven and the Earth, indeed of all that is, both
visible and invisible, is often depicted a a figment of mans imagination,
or as a fairy tale. Well, I say that to trust in JESUS CHRIST as Saviour
is indeed life, and that eternal, but to trust in the world will lead
unto death eternal. GOD IS ALIVE AND WELL TODAY.

GOOD
VS EVIL
Subject: The Exorcist
Date: Fri, 13 Oct 2000
From: Aiw kid
Well, I just had to
post a comment on this film after what so many Christians have said about
it. When the film first came out Billy Graham threw every negative comment
he could pitch at this movie. Billy obviously did not understand the film,
and he was one of the most famous preachers in our time! This film, as
the director put it, is about the struggle between good over evil.
Regean (did I spell
her name right?) is this sweet, adorable 12 year old who likes to paint
and draw. She's a normal kid. But she decides to make the foolish decision
of playing with a Ouja board. She begins experiencing odd things like
wetting the floor, a shaking bed, a greenish appearance, flying objects
darting around her room. She has no control over this at all and wants
it all to stop.
After talking to doctors
and psychiatrists, her mother finally decides to talk to a priest. The
priest is struggling with his faith while another priest is researching
demons and possesion. They both go to Regean's (I think I got the spelling
down now) room only to be vommited upon, cursed at, and (to one of them)
killed. The other priest in hatred over his dead companion lunges toward
Regean shouting, "TAKE ME, TAKE ME!" Suddenly Regean starts crying in
her normal voice, crying out for her mother. The priest's face turns a
horrid yellow, indicating that he's become possesed. He stuggles to conquer
over his possesion and realizing he can't, jumps out thw window to end
it all.
But of course, Satan
can be clever at times because right before the priest jumps out the window
he is no longer possesed. Now both priests are dead, Regean is cured,
and life is back to normal. Good has triumped over evil just as Jesus
triumphed over Satan when He rose again. Satan will do anything to keep
us astray from Christ, even posses an innocent young girl. The Exorcist
shows this in such a realistic manner that you sometimes forget it's a
film you're watching.
Billy Graham over
looked the fact that this film was not made to gross you out or to make
you scared of entering a dark corridor, it's about the challenge of faith,
and how good ALWAYS wins, even if it may not seem that way. Jesus went
to Hell for 3 days after His death and Satan actually thought he had Him
now. That is, until Jesus rose again. Satan knows he's a loser and can
never win but he tries anyway. I encourage everyone to see this film in
a new perspective and look deeper into it's spiritual meaning.

INDICATION
OF BIAS
Subject: Search for Jesus Peter_Jennings_Jesus
Date: Fri, 13 Oct 2000
From: Tracy
I just found this
website today, and saw the program several months ago, so the comments
may not be too fresh. I don't know if anyone actually reads these comments,
but if so, I did have a couple things to say. I was interested when I
heard such a program was coming on. I was severely disappointed with the
program, however. I thought it was very intellectually dishonest. The
number of scholars who came from the Jesus Seminar is an indication of
the bias of the program. While I think it would have been appropriate
to use some material from the Jesus Seminar, or people who participated
in it, to take a majority of material from this seems to be an obvious
bias? Am I missing something? Also, by the end of the program, Jennings
was assuming that the things in the Bible aren't true, which I see as
a problem. I am not sure you can start with that assumption. The Bible
is generally regarded as being historically accurate. Why then does Jennings
repeatedly assume historical details to be false? In doing such a program,
I think one has a responsibility to consult many different viewpoints.
The program lacked a scholar who takes the conservative viewpoint that
the Bible is true, Jesus lived, died, and rose and is the son of God.
Thank you for reading this. Sincerely, Tracy

PRO-LIFE
FILM, DR. AS DECEIVER, CANDY AS EVE.
Subject: Gospel in Cider House Rules
Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2000
From: Richard E. Rowan
I was first offended
by the apparent pro-abortion stance of this film. However, by the end
I realized that it is a powerful pro-life film with the gospel message
evident. As with any "type", the film is not a perfect reflection, but
the analogies are striking. The orphanage, in its beautiful setting, is
an Eden-type. In this Eden lurks a serpent, the father of lies and a murderer
from the beginning. Dr. Larch is this deceiver. Candy is our Eve. She
even picks apples!
The Cider House Rules
are seen as meaningless, just as many view God's rules. Those under the
authority of the Cider House rebel, first by ignoring rules (smoking in
bed), tearing down the rules and burning them, and then blatantly violating
rules just for the sake of doing so. Remember Satan's basic lie is that
we can be our own gods, making up our own rules.
Candy's pilot boyfriend
is an interesting minor character. He may also be the most type. I see
in him both the first Adam, the fallen one, and the second Adam who once
was dead (went down with his plane behind enemy lines and whose fate was
unknown), and emerged wounded and broken for others. He even seems to
return to claim his bride, just as Christ will return for his bride.
Homer? I think he
can be any of us. Once we were young and innocent. Then we fell victim
to the liar and his lies. His ways seem so good. Homer's ultimate fate
is left untold. We must fill in the blanks. I was surprised to see that
Miramax did this film since I saw the gospel so clearly in it. Perhaps
that's because they never read the book.

Sir ...Excellent web
site...really opens some thought cells. I believe Christ is about to return.
He gave us the signs in Mattew 24. Then in verse 33 ....He tells us when
we see these signs..get ready
So likewise ye, when
ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
As for why people enjoy a "taste" of spiritual things in media..God tells
us about this in 2 Timothy. 2Tm:3:2: For men shall be lovers of their
own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, 2Tm:3:4: Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures
more than lovers of God;
Thanks for your work...God

AN
ATHIEST'S VIEW
Subject: an athiests' view ShawshankRedemption
Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2000
From: "- Motty"
To whom it may concern:
You do well to find such symbolism in The Shawshank Redemption. As Christians,
it is your very nature to find your God in everyday situations - indeed,
all Christians are taught that God is in all things. And you raise some
extremely relevant and interesting points (especially in noticing the
Exodus chapter in the bible).
However, I find that
you may be searching a little too hard - and consequently finding what
isn't there. Many of these points have already been raised, so I won't
bring them up again (they appear in the comments titled 'Some Thoughts
on Shawshank - Nov. 6 1999). You seem quite ready to see the portrayal
of the warden as an attack on Christians themselves - while conveniently
forgetting that, in the time of The Shawshank Redemption, many Christians
justified their shameful actions through their faith (eg. the passage
framed on the warden's office wall), and that the prison system during
the early years of the 20th century was a haven for savage tyrants such
as the warden. His faith is secondary to this characterisation - you see
the warden as a brutal Christian when he is in fact a Christian who happens
to be brutal. There are thousands of these in the world today, whether
you and I like it or not, just as there are thousands of brutal Muslims,
Bhuddists, and Atheists.
Christians (and The
Church) have made mistakes in the recent past, not just the Dark Ages
- and like it or not, they are still making mistakes today. As we all
do. However there is no denying that the Christian content of The Shawshank
Redemption is quite prominent and deliberate. And a note to the editor:
your response to the comments titled 'About the Poster - Jan. 3 2000'
is rather unintelligent and overly dismissive. If "it's only a movie where
story comes first, not small details concerning a poster", then why strive
to find the Christian symbolism throughout in the first place?
Some of your points
could be seen as quite small details. 'The art' raises a question which
you really ought to consider. And secondly, to rephrase your words slightly:
if it's only a religion where faith comes first, not small details concerning
inconsistencies, innumerable mistakes, wrongdoings and hypocrisy, why
be a Christian at all?
I'd prefer it if you
don't publish my email address, simply because my points may provoke some
people enough to bother me about it. I'd really like a response, *on the
webpage*, and I want you to know that I don't dislike Christians, nor
any members of any religion, in any way. You might also be interested
that I used to attend chuch every sunday, for years.
Thanks, -motty

I watched this film
late last night and was so stunned by the power of its message that I
had to spend some time evaluating my own life and motivations. Vanity
and lust are strong desires and can hide themselves in surprising ways.
This film shone a light into dark places for me. It has haunted me all
through the day today and prompted me to find out other people's views
which is how I found your site. I was pleasantly surprised to find other
Christians with an open approach to a film with such graphic material.
Thanks for taking the time to produce the site. Regards, Michael
