In Memory of Hunter S. Thompson
I feel like someone just kicked me in the stomach. Actually, someone just did: Hunter S. Thompson, to be exact. And it was a posthumous blow. The creator of "gonzo journalism," a writer whose audacity and panache inspired me to find my own voice as a writer, shot himself on Sunday. Somehow, I only found out about it today though. All I can say is, what a letdown. What a tragedy. What a shock. Still processing.

Mm, yes, Michael Moore thought so too.
So, speaking as someone, probably because I'm not American, who has NEVER yet read a major work by this author, a Texan, was he not? (Like so many good ones, interestingly?)
So, perhaps you could tell us all a) what attracted you most to the work of this author and b) what are his must-read works!
That might be some help. To such as me, anyway. And it would be a nice little in memoriam!
Hey Kevin: I bet you never noticed my interest in your interest in Hunter S. Thompson??
(What could you say about him? "If you think you're bad, Liz, you should try reading him... He's the really delinquent writer..."
Yeah, but I don't like drugs and stuff! That's not how I personally choose to express my individuality! Enough damage can be done with words and ideas... I've made Maurice cross with me yet again, just now!)
Who needs drugs when you've got archetypes - and individuality of your own??
