HJ FLASH VIDEO REVIEW by david bruce (video may take a moment before it appears)
“Sony is hoping God is on its side this weekend,” says Variety. “(It) hits theaters this weekend with gigantic hype...and tracking to match.”
It opens to 3,735 USA theaters and 11,930 situations overseas. Estimates are as high as 80 million and as low as 60s. Sony did not screen the movie to reviewers before hand (usually a sign of a not-so-good film). However, Sony claims it wanted to keep the hype and mystery surrounding the film alive. Some initial reports of the film from those who have seen it are not glowing –saying that it is overly long, and sometimes boring.
Greg Wright reports, “The screening of the film at Cannes was less than a resounding success. Toward the end of the movie, when an as-yet-undisclosed revelation is made by Tom Hanks' Robert Langdon, the audience responded with hoots and catcalls; and when the film concluded, it was greeted with not even a smattering of applause…” Continue here
In a book review of The Da Vinci Code Breaker, Kevin Miller suggests that “no matter where you fall along the theological spectrum, I encourage you to read The Da Vinci Code and The Da Vinci Code Breaker hand-in-hand. If your mind is truly open to all of the facts, I think you will pleasantly surprised by where you wind up at the end..” More here.
Sony and Grace Hill Media are making available downloadable study guides and papers from major Christian leaders. Go here.
I just heard that Muslims funded the DaVinci Code movie. If so, that’s another reason why Christians and Jews should not see this movie.
I heard it on the 8 o’clock news this morning. The details are that Invicta Capital run by Mohammed Yusef provided the bulk of the $200 Million funding the make the movie. This is according to Dr. Ted Baehr, Chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission.
I’ve read the book, I got a copy from the library so as not to give Dan Brown any of my money.
I was planning on seeing the movie today, but not any more.
At this point I’m calling on all Christians to Boycott this film.
I have lost my faith AGAIN! First it was as a kid when the Chariots of the Gods flick came out - you know the one, where we found out (PRE-Scientlogy!) that God was an alien and we were pawns. Then The Damien 666/Omen Movies did it to me AGAIN! Then there was The Last Temptation of Christ! I lost it AGAIN! And now this! The Da Vinci code is casting the faith again in a light so we know about all the lies we have been sold. Well, this time, I am not walking back down the aisle to re-dedicate my life to Jesus at the local Tabernacle! --Kevin
What words do I have for you. Your comment sounds more like you are making a statement against portrayals of faith on the screen. You truly sound like a believer that does not like stuff out of their comfort zone. Let's get real. You did not really lose your faith over some film at the cinema. What is really going on here?
The bible is quite clear that in the last days even the very elect will be deceived, so hold fast to the word of god, pray without ceasing, put all you faith in the Lord and be discerning about the things which will disturb your spirit, christians have no need to be involved either in protest or discussion on the works of the devil. Let God deal with Dan Brown he is bringing damnation down on his own head. God is all powerful he does not need my help save to pray for all involved.
You say, "christians have no need to be involved either in protest or discussion on the works of the devil. Let God deal with Dan Brown he is bringing damnation down on his own head. God is all powerful he does not need my help..."
Wow, that is amazing. Do you have some sort of inside track with God to know this? I think it is important to know why the public connected so powerfully with the film. You seem to pass it off as just "a work of the devil."
Can it be anything else, indeed is it too simplistic to say that everything in life is either good or sinful in Gods eyes, I believe it is quite simple really, go out into all the world and preach the gospel, in laymans terms it means speaking to people about Jesus and Gods forgiveness of sin to all who believe. I say, forget about Dan Browns book and the resulting film, its nonsense, instead take the opportunity provided by this new interest in Christianity to tell people how much more incredible the real Jesus is than anything men can imagine.
I'd love to chat further David but here in the United Kingdom it is nearly 1am and I must get some sleep, busy day tomorrow ! Hope you have a good day.

Thanks for your thoughts. Here are a few that come to mind as I read your comment.
Money from a Muslim? So what?
Ted Baehr is always questionable. He is not generally respected.
BTW, Why don’t Christians fund any movies?
Why did Mel Gibson have to fund The Passion himself? Why didn’t Christians fund it?
Da Vinci Code movie is long and boring. Boycott unnecessary.
