Dear Mr. Bruce,
Movies about creatures that are half man are nothing new. Old classics such as"Sinbad,"Ulysees", and even the recent "Mummy" movies have been depicted as myth, legend, or just plain fantasy. The difference lies in making a direct or indirect connection with our Lord Jesus Christ. And I believe you are misleading the public. Most Christians who read the Gospel know that in 1 John, the apostle Paul tells us that anyone who preaches other than Christ Crucified should be avoided, and that it is the duty of christians to point out those who preach otherwise. I'm sure you are aware of the many cults that have spawned off of the Harry Potter movies. God's word,(the Holy Bible)Speaks about wichcraft being evil. It doesn,t say white witch or dark, it says witchcraft period, is evil. And to say that Narnia is different from the Harry Potter movies is also misleading to the public. Are there not witches and sorcerers in both movies? Are the Children in both movies taken to a magical land? God's word also tells us that we were created in his image. Not Half man half beast. There are many christains who want to pick out certian verses in the bible and avoid the rest. I do believe that God uses all kinds of people to ensure that his will is done. In the book of Numbers, chapter 22
in the old testament. Balamm, son of Beor was a sorcerer who was called upon to place curses on others. In this story God allowed him to see an Angel, and to hear his own donkey speak. However, it was clearly pointed out that it was an Angel of the Lord. In the end Instead of cursing the Jews as the King wanted, he blessed them, and told the King of his death. Later, Balaam was killed by the sword of David's army. Proving that sorcery is evil. The Christian faith teaches that God, and Jesus is real, and alive. We have a responsiblity as Christians to make sure our children know what is fantasy, and what is real. If you are telling people that Jesus is real, and then promoting a movie that is clearly fantasy. Then something is wrong.
