Hey Chris! Where Have You Been???
I know it's been a while since I've posted a review here at Hollywood Jesus. Please allow me to explain.
My wife is 3 1/2 months pregnant with our first child. Needless to say, it's a time of joy and anticipation...but that is mixed in with fear, concern and spiritual warfare.
My wife has fibroids: benign (non-cancerous) tumors in her womb. To make a long story short, these tumors are competing with the growing baby for estrogen and nourishment. This situation forces my wife to be considered a high-risk pregnancy. We have already had a perinatologist (fancy word for pregnancy specialist) give a laundry list of terrible, horrible things that could happen to the baby. Her final "words of wisdom": consider terminating the pregnancy for the purpose of removing the fibroids and starting all over.
Never! We will never give up on the life of our child! We are trusting God that this baby will survive. At the time of this writing, our unborn child is calmly resting in his/her mother's womb. The baby is growing and all is well. We had a major miscarriage scare in late July because one of the fibroids caused a blood vessel to burst and my wife was bleeding through her clothes. But God is/was merciful and preserved the health of the baby.
Needless to say, due to this remarkable season in my life, movies are on the bottom of my priority. All of my energy is directed towards my wife and my unborn child. I have been reduced to simply going to movies as a fan. Therefore I have decided to take a hiatus from writing here at HJ. No worries. David Bruce and his team are keeping the ship afloat. After the baby is born...and if the Lord gives the greenlight...I'll be back.
I am thankful for the gift of writing and for the insight to merge spirtual principles with cinematic presentation. I am thankful to all who have been blessed by my reviews. I'm even thankful to all who have disagreed with my reviews. You have been used by God to further cement the gift He has given me. Please send your prayers for me, my wife, and my unborn child. We believe that God will either supernaturally shrink the fibroids or cause the baby to survive in spite of them.
