I've Got a New Project, But the Comics Roll On

As you might know, I've been writing short horror fiction for several years now.

Well, the final negotiations are still being hammered out between my agent and the publishing company, but Angry Robot, a division of HarperCollins has offered me a three book deal.

The trilogy is tentatively titled The Knights of Breton Court and it's basically about homeless youth in Indianapolis re-living the legend of King Arthur.  Basically think The Wire meets Excalibur

That's the upside.  The downside is that they want to have all three books finished before they publish the first.  So for the next 18 months, I will be chained to my computer.  My life has been streamlined to family, eat, sleep, write.  I've pretty much dropped all of the other things going on in my life.  I just simply couldn't continue as a channel editor.

So I'm handing off editorial responsibilities into the capable hands of my protege, Jesse Johnson.

However, I will still do the occasional review for HJ!  You haven't seen the last of me...

Let me take this opportunity to say that I am a huge Ghostbusters fan. I've been spelunking the Internet for years looking for news of a third film and am anxiously awaiting the release of the Ghostbusters video game this year.

The first film was released in theaters when I was only two years old, so my original experience with the Ghostbusters was on television. Ghostbusters and its sequel became movies that, anytime they were on TV, I would get mesmerized with and would have sit and watch (kind of like fishing shows). I now, of course, have both films in my iTunes library and watch them often. The image of Sigourney Weaver getting held in her easy-chair by evil, demonic hands and getting sucked into her refrigerator still gives me bad dreams.

The recent Ghostbusters comic mini-series really caught me by surprise...
