“This book could change our families, the church, and this generation!” -Ann Voskamp, New York Times bestselling author of The Broken Way and One Thousand Gifts
I have been so excited to get my hands on this book, since its release in September of 2017. I am embarrassed to say it took me so long, especially after reading reviews like the one from Ann Voskamp above. Yes, this book is intended for children and I couldn’t wait to read it to my little one, but I couldn’t wait to read it myself.
The discussion surrounding racial reconciliation is often a tense one and Trillia Newbell handles this topic, as well as others, with grace and beauty in a way that children can understand. God made us all in His image and that is a beautiful, and good idea. We are sinful people and we have ruined this idea but God won’t leave us in our sin and he will complete the good idea He started.
One day we won’t see people based on their differences, we won’t argue about different opinions, we won’t fight to be heard. One day we will see ourselves as the people God made us to be and we will worship Him together. Though Christ hasn’t come back to complete this work yet, we are His church here on earth and we can be apart of God’s very good idea even now.
This book challenged me as an adult and I know it is planting seeds in my child’s heart to love people as God made them to be. I am so thankful for that. The book is also visually appealing with beautiful colors and images that captivate young and old readers alike.
This book is an important one in our culture today. Pick yourself up a copy today! You can order this book on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and wherever books are sold.
