This
Summer It's All About Sticking Together.

STUDIO
SYNOPSIS:
Bringing
back the entire ensemble from the original hit comedy, AMERICAN
PIE 2 finds Jim (Jason Biggs), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), Kevin
(Thomas Ian Nicholas), Oz (Chris Klein), and Stifler (Seann William
Scott) reunited for the summer after their first year at college.
When the boys rent a beach house, even more familiar faces--such
as Vicky (Tara Reid), Jessica (Natasha Lyonne), and the Sherminator
(Chris Owen)--begin to appear. Soon Jim discovers that the gorgeous
exchange student Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) will be making a romantic
visit, and, in a panic, he heads for band camp to seek sex advice
from the flute-playing Michelle (Alyson Hannigan).
A worthy
follow-up to AMERICAN PIE, this outrageous and entertaining sequel
flaunts even more absurd antics and unlikely couplings. Erotic attempts
continue to go awry, and musical instruments still find their way
into the most inappropriate places. And once again, Eugene Levy
brings down the house as Jim's nerdy yet understanding father. Fans
of the first film will not be disappointed.

Okay,
Okay, I won't deny it. This movie has some low down crude moments.
The American Pie team even manages to match the lowbrow humor of the
first movie's now infamous pie scene with a crazy glue scene. But
American Pie 2 isn't just about jokes. There is a certain charm about
the characters and I have to admit Jim (Jason Biggs) has won over
my heart. At it's core American Pie is a coming of age story. Amidst
the humor and exaggeration there is a realism about the struggles
of youth and discovering who you really are. |
American
Pie 2 reunites the whole cast from Jim and his eccentric dad (Eugene
Levy) the rest of the guys, Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Stifler (Seann
William Scott), Oz
(Chris Klein) and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas). It's one year later and
the gang has finished the first year of college. Home again for the
summer they realize that things have changed and they have to figure
out where they fit in. |
A
summer at the beach is the perfect place for self-discovery and of
course there's a big party planned for the end of summer. The
guys are on the lookout for girls, parties and a general good time.
But by the time the big end of summer celebration comes it's anticlimactic.
Most of the guys have figured out that there are more important things
in life than the big parties |
Oz
and Heather (Mena Suvari) have weathered long distance and come out
of the summer with hardly a problem. It was refreshing that they were
allowed to continue their committed relationship from the first movie
with hardly a problem. There
are relationships that work like that in the real world but it was
surprising to find in a teen comedy. Calling Jim embarrassment-prone
is too kind but he carries the day in the end. With the help of band
geek Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) and foreign exchange student Nadia
(Shannon Elizabeth), Jim starts to figure out love ? for real this
time. |

If
American Pie 2 tries to tell us anything it's to be true to yourself.
Find out who you are meant to be and stick to it. Usually the answers
we are looking for are closer than we think. Granted, this is not
an earth shattering revelation but it is a comedy after all. This
is not a deeply spiritual movie but has a basic theme. We are all
looking for love and acceptance. That is basically what God offers
to us. He gives us an unconditional love and acceptance that we
can't get from any other person. Love on earth is a dim foreshadowing
of the love we can receive from Him.

REVOKE
MY SALVATION...
Subject: American
Pie 2
Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001
From: Chris Utley
church
people will "revoke" my salvation for saying this...but i loved
American Pie 2. no, not the sex or the gross-out jokes. i totally
agree with you...this film had heart. it's hard for religious people
to look beyond the surface of things because the church has taught
them to judge things based on what you see. thank God i'm not like
that! both of the American Pie films have a gentleness and earnestness
about them that most people can't see. Holy Rollers dismiss them.
but the films have made big money at the box office...because of
heart. those of us who were not sheltered and hidden from the world
can relate to this film. we all know the sex crazed jock. we all
know "the high school sweethearts who were destined to be together-like
Oz and Heather." we all know "the couple who broke up but one of
them is still in love"-like Kevin and Vicky. seeing AP and AP2 makes
me remember the good things about high school-mostly my friends.
hence the tagline: it's all about sticking together.
if
only they cut out the lesbo stuff...that was too much for me!

AWFUL,
GROSS AND PUTRID

What
an awful, gross and putrid movie! A celebration of sexual immorality,
not to mention the sexual abuse of a 14 or 15-year-old boy with
pornography. Reviewers should judge the morality of a movie. Great
art should promote Truth, Justice, Goodness, and Beauty, not just
some wimpy "spirituality," whatever that means!

Oh
My Goodness. By these comments, being posted on Hollywood Jesus,
I would run out and see this movie, thinking it's the next heartwarming,
moral Christian film for our teenagers. Yet this movie is FILLED
with vile and foul language, jokes about homosexuality, group sex,
masturbation, contains nudity, and plain old lustful 'GETTING LAID.'
I CANNOT believe you would speak so tenderly about this movie as
you have in a 'SO-CALLED" CHRISTIAN MOVIE Review site. I THOUGHT
this was a CHRISTIAN site. How many people who have read this review
of such immoral filth, gone to see this? Oh My God! OH MY GOD! O
H M Y G O D !!!!!!!!!!
Response:
Oh for goodness sake, this is a secular film. What were you expecting?
It is R rated and it is plainly stated at the top of this page that
it contains, "strong sexual content, crude humor, language
and drinking."
