DEANNE
BRAY: Sue Thomas
DEANNE
BRAY is the star of Sue Thomas: F.B.EYE, and portrays
an earnest, young deaf woman who falls into an exciting career as
an undercover surveillant for the FBI. Bray herself is severely
deaf and has been acting for more than 10 years, appearing in theatrical
productions, film and guest-star roles on numerous television series.
Contrary to the advice of some professionals, Brays parents
made certain their daughter was instructed from at an early age
onward to speak and write English and learn American Sign Language
as well, sending her through a variety of learning programs and
centers to strengthen her language skills. A California native,
Bray broke into the entertainment industry after she was discovered
performing with a deaf dancing group called Prism West
at a deaf festival at California State University, Northridge, where
she earned a B.A. degree in Biology.
Bray
has appeared in the NBC Movie-of-the-Week Ed McBains
87th Precinct: Lightning directed by Bruce Paltrow and co-starring
Randy Quaid, Independent films What Do The Women Want?
directed by Guy Shalem, Last Mountain with Soon-Tek
Oh and L.A. Sheriff Homicide for CBS. Her numerous television
credits include guest starring roles on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,
Ellen, Diagnosis Murder, The Pretender
and Strong Medicine. Additionally, Bray was a host on
a nationally syndicated show for the deaf community, Caption
This.
Bray
holds an extensive list of stage credits from the acclaimed Deaf
West Theatre in California including Road To The Revolution,
for which she garnered a Best Supporting Actress Award for the 2001
A.D.A. Awards; Oliver which earned her a Best Translation
nomination at the 2000 Los Angeles Ovation Awards; and The
House of Bernarda Alba which won Best Ensemble at the 1999
LA Weekly Awards. She also has appeared in Deaf Wests Alice
in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol and One
Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest. At the Mark Taper Forum
in Los Angeles, she played Helen Keller in Helen & Frida
and appeared in the Vincent Paderson production, Kazoo.
For
the past three years, Bray has taught science and math to deaf and
hard of hearing students in East Los Angeles, established a literacy
program -- The Little Bookworm Club-- for deaf and hard
of hearing children and is about to complete her Masters in Education.
She is involved in numerous organizations and serves as Second Vice
Chairperson on the council board of the Greater Los Angeles Council
on Deafness (GLAD) and the Non-Traditional Casting Project.
Bray
lives in North Hollywood, California with her husband Troy Kotsur,
a deaf actor who recently appeared in the acclaimed Deaf West Theatre
production of True West. They have both been cast in
Deaf Wests exciting journey to the Mark Taper Forum for their
next musical production, Big River (November-December
2002), a role Bray will have to forgo for her work on Sue
Thomas: F.B.EYE.
ENUKA
OKUMA: Lucy Dotson
ENUKA
OKUMA portrays the FBI teams right hand support person and
Sues best friend and roommate. Okuma is a Vancouver actress
who has appeared steadily in feature films, television series and
movies, and theatrical productions.
She
has landed major roles in films like Show and Tell,
Sea Josie and the Pussycats and The
Dinosaur Hunter with Christopher Plummer. She has appeared
in Reindeer Games starring Ben Affleck, How to
Kill Your Neighbors Dog with Lynn Redgrave and Double
Jeopardy starring Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd. Okumas
extensive television credits include series regular roles on Madison
for which she garnered two Gemini Award Nominations in 1994 and
1995, Big Sound with Greg Evigan, CTVs The
City, and Nickelodeons teen soap opera Hillside/Fifteen,
as well as guest starring roles on Dark Angel, The
Commish, MacGyver, These Arms of Mine,
Traders, The Hoop Life, Night Man
and DaVincis Inquest. Additionally, she has starred
in television movies G-Saviour, The Christmas
List with Mimi Rogers, The Hunted with Chad Lowe,
Halfback of Notre Dame for Showtime and ABCs Fighting
For My Daughter.
A theatre
graduate from Vancouvers Simon Frasier University, Okumas
professional stage credits include the roles of Delphina in Vaparaiso,
Angel in Marisol, and Gana in The Perfect Ganesh.
JESSE
THE DOG: Levi
JESSE
plays Sues hearing-ear dog and most trusted companion. The
five-year-old Golden Retriever was born at a celebrated dog breeding
establishment outside of Toronto and was discovered and adopted
by professional animal trainer, Bryan Renfro. Jesse immediately
landed the role of Homer on the Nickelodeon TV series Animorphs
based on the popular Scholastic books by K.A. Applegate. After a
two-year hiatus in California, Jesse reunited with Renfro for the
role of Levi on Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye Jesse resides with
Renfro in Pickering, Ontario and will soon be joined by Jesses
brother Hamish.
Renfro
worked for Universal Studios from 1972 to 1985 at their live animal
show and in series television. He also trained Casey the Border
Collie mix who appeared in Fast Track with Keith Carradine,
Scholastics Goosebumps and Sons of Mistletoe
with Roma Downey.
MARC
GOMES: Dimitrius Gans
MARC
GOMES plays the experienced senior member on the FBI surveillance
team. Born and raised in Guyana until the age of eleven, Gomes attended
high school and university in Toronto, graduating from The Ryerson
Theatre School. Upon graduation, he went to work on stage playing
lead roles in a variety of productions including A Slow Dance
On the Killing Ground, Edmond, The Gayden
Cronicles, A Taste of Honey and the North American
premiere of Ryszard Kapuscinsinskiis The Emperor.
Gomes later moved to Los Angeles where he has gone on to star in
numerous television series and movies. His series credits include
The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, Lightning Force
and E.N.G. Gomes has also directed several plays and
recently wrote and directed a short film Stir Crazy,
which will begin making film festival appearances this year.
As
a member of The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company, Marc volunteers
with underage offenders who are incarcerated in the Los Angeles
Justice system. The company also works with former gang members
by using theater, as a means to foster pride, self-confidence and
racial tolerance.

RICK
PETERS portrays a charismatic FBI agent who likes to bend the rules.
Peters holds an extensive list of television credits including leading
series roles on Bull, The Hoop Life, Bouncers,
Family Values, McKenna and Against
The Grain, created and produced by Dave Alan Johnson and Gary
R. Johnson, co-creators of Sue Thomas: F.B.EYE Additionally
he has guest-starred on numerous television series such as Smallville,
Andy Richter Controls The Universe, CSI,
Providence, The Pretender, Under Suspicion,
Full House, Hunter and Life Goes On.
Peters
has also appeared in several feature films including Night
Class with Sean Young, American Virgin starring
Mena Suvari, Gun Shy with Liam Neeson, The Disappearance
of Kevin Johnson with Pierce Brosnan and Dudley Moore,
Late Last Night starring Emilio Estevez. His movie-of-the-week
credits include Happy Face Murders starring Ann-Margret
and Marg Helgenberger, This Matter of Marriage and Elvis
Meets Nixon, for Showtime. His stage credits include Sometimes
Why at The Gardener Theatre, The Apollo of Bellac
and The Seagull at the St. Genesius Theatre and London
Calling at The World Theatre.
TARA
SAMUEL: Tara Williams
TARA
SAMUEL plays an absent-minded, but brilliant FBI research analyst.
A Toronto native, Samuel has performed for her citys leading
theatre companies. She was recently seen as Ainsley Tewce
in Margaret Atwoods The Edible Woman for the Canadian
Stage Company. Her extensive theatrical credits include the title
role in Stage Wests Cinderella, For Hire
at the Tarragon Theatre, Young Peoples Theatres The
Prince and the Pauper, Exorcize in Depravity at
Buddies In Bad Times Theatre, Impassioned Embraces at
The Poor Alex and the Canadian Stage Companys Les Belles
Soeurs. Samuels film and television credits include
Harvard Man with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Eric Stoltz,
and television movies Killer Deal for UPN, There
Is No City That Does Not Dream for Bravo and Grapes
of Wrath with Terry Kinney and Gary Sinise. She has performed
several radio plays for CBC Radio, as well as stand-up comedy at
the New York Comedy Club and Gershwin Hotel.
Samuel
graduated from Torontos esteemed George Brown Theatre School
where she received the John Bannerman Award for Most Promising Career.
TED
ATHERTON: Myles Leland III
TED
ATHERTON portrays an unintentionally comical FBI agent. The Winnipeg-born
actor holds numerous film, television and stage credits and is perhaps
best known for his leading role as Pan Philips in the
CBC series Nothing Too Good For A Cowboy which garnered
him a 2000 Gemini Award for Best Lead Actor in a Continuing Dramatic
Role.
YANNICK
BISSON: Jack Hudson
YANNICK
BISSON plays the handsome, All-American FBI agent who discovers
Sues unique lip reading skills and trains her for surveillance
work. Born in Montreal, Canada, Bisson moved to Toronto as a teenager
where he began acting lessons. After appearing in numerous television
commercials, his professional career took off when he was cast as
the lead in the CBCs critically acclaimed movie-of-the-week
Hockey Night with Rick Moranis.
Bisson
went on to appear in numerous television series including Alfred
Hitchcock Presents, TNTs The Pretender,
Ray Bradbury Theatre for CBS, Lifetimes The
Hidden Room, Catwalk, and PAX TVs Twice
in a Lifetime. He was a series lead in High Tide
for four seasons and had a recurring role in Showtimes Soul
Food with Vanessa Williams. He also holds extensive film credits
including Rookies, which earned Bisson a 1992 Gemini
Award nomination, Young at Heart with Olympia Dukakis,
The Moving of Sophia Myles starring Della Reese, the
lead in Showtimes The Day Reagan Was Shot with
Richard Dreyfuss, Disneys Genius and Mary
Higgins Clarks Loves Music, Loves to Dance for PAX.
Bissons animated series/voice credits include MTVs The
Click, Maxies World, Ultracross
and My Pet Monster.
